Terps were in brick city early in the game against TN but still managed to fight back and have 2 chances to get to OT. Not sure this team is great, but what a drastic improvement with the new coaching staff.

It’s weird how silent the media seems to be about the coach of the #2 team in the nation being arrested for choking a family member.

The national folks are probably waiting on more info. The local people would probably rather cover someone more important, like the assistant vice secretary to the equipment manager of the football team.

That's a situation to keep tabs on. Don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that. Pretty unprofessional and more importantly, not sure it was the kind of public shaming that is motivational. Was more mean-spirited than anything else.
That's fucked up, especially since those heartless players just knocked off Texas earlier in the week.
Yeah, I don't remember who it was on the B1G Network, but he made the same (very valid) point.

I watched that game yesterday. Tennessee looked very overrated at #7.

Colorado isn’t very good this year and they beat Tennessee in Knoxville.

So UCLA is putting the hammer to Maryland. 41-15 with 2 minutes left in the first half. Ouch.
Guess this is a nice gift for UCLA since that got the green light from the board of regents to join the B1G this afternoon.

That and Maryland doesn’t belong in the top 50, let alone top 20.

Yeah, there's something really off about this MI team. Good for the Chips, solid win.

ETA - The line was CMU +21. MI had a week to prepare for that game. CMU was 4-8 coming in.

Woof.

Do the players like Howard? He seems like an absolute dick (or worse) at some of the worst times in public, so I am admittedly curious about the players' opinions.

I honestly don't know. My "source" up there is so focused on football, I have no real insight.

It's one of those "vibes" things. I'm not sure if it's coming from Dickinson or what's going on, but they have very little of the typical rah-rah/gumption that MI teams have been known for in the past 10 years. They just don't.

Laying down to an average (no offense bri) Chipewa team at home after a long break is a really bad sign.

I mean, I just steamrolled through the latest version of Last Chance U where attitude and team chemistry issues are HUGE, so maybe I'm reading too much into it.

After surviving at Wyoming the other day, and having Rutgers take down Purdue. The last undefeated team in the country are your New Mexico Lobos.

Same Michigan idiots I referenced in the other thread did not understand why a) so many TVs were on that UNM game and b) so many people were cheering. About two minutes later "oh, we are in Santa Fe...makes sense I guess."

Weird that they were showing the game at all! Lobos used to be somewhat of a religion, but after being less than stellar they hadn't even sold out the Pit in 7 years! They did sell out the upcoming game against UNLV, so they'll probably be blown out.

And down go the Lobos. Horrible last 40 seconds or so, with bad shots, and defensive mistakes. Sigh.

Kansas State and Texas averaged over 3 shots per minute (and nearly 2 made!). 219 total points scored in regulation. Woulda probably been a fun watch.

You'd think these guys that make millions a year would be able to not beat their wives. The way these contracts are written you can go 0-30 every year and still get paid out forever after you get fired, but pistol whipping grandma means no more dinero.

Probably workshopping whether "this was a one-time event an entire month ago when he was much younger he's grown and learned so much and is truly remorseful" was enough for a coach in the top 10.

Isn't that his next school's line?
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I think he’ll be back with someone by next year’s coaching carousel, so I guess that over/under is right on the nose. That’s gambling. As for why it took so long, I read that the decision was made by the University rather than the AD. It probably took that long to cat herd the various Governors or Trustees or whatever the UT system calls them, some of whom needed to be brought up to speed because they have never heard of Chris Beard, or basketball. Even those who knew what they wanted to do were never going to act quickly, for reasons. The average public university admin don’t take a dump without a plan, as the saying goes.

I don't think he gets back this summer. This was, by initial accounts, a pretty brutal incident. That the state intends to prosecute even though she wanted charges dropped seems to indicate there is enough evidence to do so.

Gonzaga's home winning streak ends at 75 games....losing to LMU by 1. LMU's point guard, Cam Shelton, was on an absolute heater (finished with 27).

I told my daughters over the holidays that Gonzaga is still a good team, just not as good as the past few years, and the WCC has gotten better.
