Don’t know. Haven’t used it yet!

Just an electric heat coil across the top of the oven.

(Our oven is electric, but our stove is gas.)

Dumber question...how does a gas broiler work differently? Doesn't gravity make flames go up?

They do but I assume it still gets hotter for whatever dumb reason. Only downside (aside from asthma) is the live flame can catch parchment paper on fire if your family doesn’t listen to you that the broiler, not the oven, is on.

I like my gas oven, but the Ninja grill has made it all but unnecessary to use the broiler.

What you really want is what I had growing up. A pull out drawer gas broiler under the gas oven. That thing made a mean toasted cheese.

Funny, I missed that original story and have only seen the angry conservative response. Now I get what they're bitching about.

It does make sense. It also seems to me like this is probably a solvable problem without getting rid of all gas stoves.

We switched our gas to induction a long time ago when we redid our countertops. The wife was worried about flames and baby hands. I really like induction for cooking. I absolutely hate old-skool electric (non-induction) cooktops though. We have one at our beach place and it takes FOREVER to boil a pot of water for pasta.
Totally Kafkaesque
