They looked at that offsides call forever and it seemed pretty obvious as such things go. This didn’t even cause a blip of stoppage.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

Thing is... They tend to give leeway when the arm is going to the ground when the player is falling. Hand and arm have to go somewhere when you are falling, and it's not logical that he would've pulled it out of the way, thereby allowing his cheek to smash into the ground.
That said, not sure why they didn't review it longer. Definitely seemed like something you'd want to examine a bit more.

That's fine if you get knocked down. He slid to block the shot, putting his arm in that position.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 1:33 pmThing is... Yeah, I'm not gonna die on that hill. It's a bad call.
(There was a kind of similar situation in the WC, where the guy was going down to block the shot and was using his hand to brace his fall. It was a planned action, but it's not like he could've just fallen on his tail bone. VAR got that one right.)

So is Marsch the latest entry in the bottom of the premier league managerial merry go round?
Does he replace Steve Bruce on the list of managers shuttling through the doors of clubs in 14-20th place?

Regardless of contract, would this be a half-year appointment to try to save them from relegation or would you assume he'd stay with them in the Championship? Asking for a USMNT fan friend.

Re: EPL 2022/2023
For his sake, I would hope the appointment isn't in hopes of staying up, but leading them next year in the Championship. Pretty bad career move to get canned by a relegation fight team, jump to the 20th place side and get canned if they don't stay up.

Re: EPL 2022/2023
I see your point, but if he chose to leave if he didn't pull off a great escape, I think it's career suicide. European soccer clubs are already extremely averse to hiring American coaches. Prior to Marsch, the longest tenure of an American coach was Bob Bradley's 3 months at Swansea. I think Marsch needs to stick it out and bring Southampton back up if he ever wants to coach in a top flight in Europe again. And it could be 5-10 years before we see another American in the EPL, La Liga or Bundesliga.

I do think it would be a pretty good career move to rebuild a team in the Championship and bring them back up. And I do think he'd be capable of doing that. If they hired him to keep them up and plan to fire him if they go down, then everyone is wasting their time. The Sybian wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:29 amFor his sake, I would hope the appointment isn't in hopes of staying up, but leading them next year in the Championship. My God that was a terrible play by Tomiyasu.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.

Looking forward to Tim Howard explaining how that was a clear cut penalty when he played for Everton and a fair challenge when he played for United.

D-day for United bids today, 5pm if you're interested in putting a bid in.

Somehow Tom Hanks got old and I missed a couple of stages in the process and I’m upset about it (he’s probably upset about this result for his first ever in person Villa match).

Martinez with a nice finish there
Re: EPL 2022/2023
What a disastrous month for Leeds. Lost a 6-pointer today (on one of the strangest goals I’ve ever seen), and every other game has gone against them (or will, after West Ham beats Spurs tomorrow). Two weeks ago, they lost a 6-pointer and every other game went against them. And they don’t have a manager. What a mess.
If they were any worse, they would be Chelsea.

Southamptons win today is a nice feather in the cap for the new manager. Too bad it isn’t Marsch.

Getting knocked out? Suboptimal.
Being jeered by a crowd after being knocked out? Super sub-optimal.

Not a sucker punch when it's right in front of you and you ask for a second one. Would not have seen that coming after the first attempt
