Yo. The Reds are torturing their players. Needless cruelty (with sound up).

I have an aunt and uncle who have a winter place outside of Phoenix. They have spent some time as ushers for spring training games for the Reds.

People are going to love it until a name pitcher blows out and blames it or fatigue becomes an obvious detriment to overall quality.

It seems so rushed! I dont mind a pitch clock but 15 seems a little quick. Even bumping it up to 20 would be a lot better.

Manny Machado became the first violator. He later said, "I might be down 0-1 a lot this year."

i reserve the right to (continually) change my mind but after watching 2 innings today holy cow the game moves along and I like it.

(this coming from someone who has never consciously cared about pacing - it's what i've always enjoyed about baseball, the calmness...but this could be fun.)

Anybody else flashing back to Skyrim when waiting between innings, listening to the percussion score on MLB.TV?

Pedro Baez was the first dude I thought of when they were kicking around the rule for the pitch clock. He makes Steve Trachsel look like Bob Gibson in a rush so his car doesn’t get towed in comparison.

I guess the Orioles wanted a pitcher to get some game action, because the Pirates batted in the bottom of the 9th while leading 7-4. Oh, and the umps all left.

That's majestic.

Maybe instead of always penalizing, we should reward pitchers who get guys out the fastest. :20 strikeout gets you a free steak or something.

Roy Oswalt agrees.

So the Red Sox tried out a workaround from the shift ban MLB implemented this season.

It’s amazing how shortsighted MLB can be sometimes.

I assume every team will try a version of that shift. But it’ll work particularly well for the Red Sox against lefty pull hitters, with the short distance to the left field wall at Fenway.

I feel like we talked about this when they were kicking around the ban. Poking a liner to left (in a situation like this) would seem more difficult than dropping a bunt down third pre-ban, but now the payoff would seem even better, because that’s a minimum stand-up double.

Here come all the nerds to say "every Yankee injury is framed as minor at first and there's a correlation between forearm pain and eventual elbow blowouts" and I'm here to say "shut the fuck up, I've very aware of this and yes that would be his 2nd TJ which is a huge issue".
