It's very cool. After a certain point it's like watching your buds play a video game, but still it's quite cool.

Pens/Rangers tonight. Feels like an important game for the Pens. Tristan Jarry might be the soap-operaeyist (yeah, it's a word) player in the league, and he needs a win. Two-time All Star, collapsed in one playoff series, was injured and missed the next one. Has missed a ton of games this year, rumored to have a chronic injury, bounces back and forth between excellent and sub-ECHL-level. On Tuesday, he gave up 4 goals on 7 shots. He's a mess.

And then the Pens give up a breakaway in the opening minutes, and they're already down a goal.

Kind of game where I get a notification that the pens tied it up and when I click for details I see the rangers are actually winning again.

It was like this watching live too.

Incredible discipline by the Rangers not committing a single penalty tonight. They're always so nice.

Devon Levi's season at Northeastern is over, and he's signed his entry-level contract with the Sabres. I know that it's foolish to get excited about goalie prospects, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what he's going to do. He's apparently heading straight to Buffalo. I hope he plays soon.

I'm high on Levi, Knight, and Askarov. At least one of them has to hit, right?

Gonna base this on almost nothing but the score (sounds like 8 fucked up right before the horn and the second goal) but…. goalies…

This is one of those games where one team’s skaters would absolutely stop it if they could which means the 3rd will either be boring or dirty as fuck.

That was not ummm...good. If I knew more about hockey I could probably diagnose the Pens defensive issues, but I know enough to know they have massive defensive issues.

This post confused me at first. Nicely done.

Anyway...6-0 at the first intermission?! Poor Nashville. You know, Mattias Ekholm never would have let that happen.

So, in 4 periods in less than 24 hours, the Rangers are outscoring their opposition 12-0. That's a nice little run. Probably not sustainable, tho.

:( terribly sad.

as if i needed a final reason to completely check out of the NHL - NHL has always been a joke and the way they've gone about .... <waves arms> everything this year ... today marks the end for me for a while.

Staals: fk the fk off. I'm sure you'll play on Sundays though. ....

(and tbh even though I generically kinda don't like any special jerseys... those Panthers' pride jerseys were really really nice)

I want to see a player refuse military or women or a sponsor or whatever and then explicitly come out and explain why they did it. Weirdly, a dude like Marchand might be one of the better bets to do it.

ESPN just showed a stat that Dallas is the only team 87 hasn’t scored against on the road. Along with footage of a fight from 12+ years ago proving he has more fights in Dallas than goals.

And the Pens have the EBUG on call tonight and he only has one eye.

Dallas just scored. Hintz on his own bobblehead night.

!!!

Dustin Tokarski, the AHL call-up, is presumably en route to the arena, but I'm kind of rooting for the one-eyed goalie here. (After the Toronto Zamboni driver, it seems that teams are trying to one-up each other in EBUG origin stories. They're like superheroes now.)

Crosby is a treasure. I think I heard the ESPN team say that he's the only player to score 30 goals at age 18 and at age 35. His goal vs. Colorado last night is worth looking up if you haven't seen it. Gorgeous.

Wasn't some of this protecting a few russian players. There are some concerns with new laws it could put them at risk. Or was that just a convenient story

Loved the tweet saying one of the Staals saying he's never worn a pride jersey with the photo of him doing so with Montreal.

Some PITA got the TV at the open area of the bar changed to the Rangers game just before I sat down to watch basketball. I’m glad they recovered from the 0-2 start cause I’ll take the help for the Pens.

My TV provider doesn’t offer MSG but it’s always nice to see Bill Pidto and Mike Rupp. It seems that the Jesse Pinkman gambling app does commercials with live in-game odds? And Caeasars sports book has Hank Lundqvist doing the gambling commercial version of the Duff Man “we at Duff respect and support the designated driver program…. NOW WHO’S READY TO PARTY?!?” speech.

i like the explicit quote from Darryl - i like to think that kind of specificity matters rather than a more generic "we welcome everyone." (which isn't bad by any means. just that something that direct coming from a coach, and especially an old school hard-ass type.)

after the recent shitshows i was anxious about tonight in Buffalo - it seems that just Ilya Lybushkin is the only gutless asshole on the team which ok or phew (i don't buy the Russian excuse. isn't the penalty just... A FINE??)

videos like this just fully get to me; i know they're designed for exactly that so nailed it i guess :P :

How does the wild card work when both teams are from same division? Second wild card plays the division winner with best record and first WC plays the other division winner?

Probably not but most of my friends are Bruins fans.
