Dallas taking Johnny football would be such a Jerry Jones thing to do.

My guess is the Browns felt the Vikes would take Gilbert, especially since Mike Zimmer is the new Vikings head coach.

Either way, they only gave up a fifth rounder to move up to that spot, so it's not like the Browns hurt their draft options moving up.

The bigger question is whether the homeless guy is a former truck driver ruined by Haslam's fraud.

That's not it at all. Ebron is very complimentary to Pettigrew. Pettigrew is a great run blocker and Ebron is more of a Jimmy Graham type (and hopefully half as good.) That comp is not accidental since the new Lions OC came from New Orleans

Also there's no way the Lions would have taken an OT. They should be set there for the next decade with Rieff and Waddle.

But very odd. Clearly, the Vikings didn't like him all that much.

And I smell a sequel to Draft Day - it would be a Disney-style touching drama where a once respected football scout loses everything and ends up on the street until a chance encounter with a rapacious billionaire leads to his redemption. Call it "Draft Manziel".

What a complete load of horse shit.

All I know is last night, the Browns got a top CB, their QB of the future AND a first-round pick in 2015. I'd say that's a pretty successful first round.

The Giants take a WR3 in a WR-deep draft and the Cowboys take the T the Giants should have taken. Fuck.

Texting with a few Browns' fans last night produced a couple of gems:

I thank your team.

The Cowboy went safe, but I'm OK with that. That makes 3 good young OL's, so we should be able to run left.

Why do you know so many Browns' fans?

I'm fine with the first round, but don't think they needed to trade back up to get Gilbert. And from what I read, he's kind of a project, too. JOHNNY FUCKIN FOOTBALL to the rescue, amirite?

Buckeyes fans - 95%
Browns fans - 5%
Bengals fans - 0%

Good point.

My "horse shit" comment was regarding Haslam's homeless scout.

One thing that concerned me was that ESPN had a highlight package of Justin Gilbert getting blocked by Wide Receivers and missing tackles. Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but I don't recall another draft choice with such a negative highlight reel.

But as a Browns' fan, I loved the deal they swung with the Bills.

As a Bills' fan, I was a bit disturbed by the deal. But I have seen enough drafts to know that there's no need to make definitive comments until it becomes clear whether or not Watkins has a set of hands that work, unlike Stevie Johnson.

I think St. Louis wins the 1st round. Reaping the rewards of the RGIII trade. The best offensive lineman and the best interior defensive lineman? Impressive looking team being built there, and as scary as JJ Watt and Jadaveon Clowney can be, the Rams front four of Quinn, Brockers, Long and now Donald is outright silly. I love the NFC West, old school football based off punishing defense first.

There were rumors that the Texans were going to trade for Mallet from NE. If they send their third for Mallet then they can get a TE/WR at the top of the 2nd.

I don't love it, but I get it, and I have mixed feelings on Shazier.

Jerloma is right - I don't like Dennard or Mosley one bit.

My thoughts on Shazier from before the draft, on the Steelers board and as Biz Horse, were that:

- He's Alec Ogletree but smaller and quicker
- Neither of those guys stood out in standard game tape and got washed out of the play quickly
- I was wrong as shit on Ogletree and hopefully am wrong about Shazier
- Shazier shows a shit ton more natural instincts than Ogletree
- In Shazier's highlight tapes, he stands out in bright fucking neon. He's like what your ILB would be if you created one in Madden when you watch those tapes

So hopefully he hits and turns into what I saw in highlight tapes.

My belief was that after Fuller was gone, Tier 1 was empty. So go BPA of the 2nd tier guys and don't reach for Dennard just because you have a hole at CB. He committed like 8 NFL holding penalties in the highlight tapes they showed. They also made Gilbert look bad on purpose - didn't do that with any other player.

My biggest Steeler fear coming in was not Dennard - it was Ebron.

He's a technician tackle. I doubt they would have taken him.

Hopefully Mosley turns into the guy he looked like on the tapes - Ro McClain. Hopefully he doesn't turn into a good player because I hate when the Ravens have good players and they beat the Steelers.

He is but he's not completely raw and he's so athletic that I think his floor is average to above average CB. He looks what the prototypical NFL lockdown Patrick Peterson-style CB looks like.

That wasn't a highlight reel on Gilbert, it was complete BS to fill Gruden's analysis. I watched more Youtubes of Gilbert than most players and while he's no Kyle Fuller, he can tackle. His actual highlight tape is him knocking away a lot of deep balls with no help and returning every other kickoff for a TD.
