ok. thanks. didn't know about that. and fuck 4chan eternally with a rusty giant dildo.
Re: Guns: Infinity
One thing Libs need to stop doing is being shocked over the fact that the state rep for a place with a mass shooting has a Christmas card with the family holding guns.
So many social media pages are sharing the dumb photo of the dumb family as if that was 1) the first time it's ever happened or 2) it's actually something to be shocked about. It isn't in either case. It's kinda whiny at this point.
When a mass shooting happens in a non-red location and the state rep has a normal Christmas card then what? Does it make the violence that much more easy to deal with?

Johnnie, gun fetishists in Congress are clearly part of the problem, just as are those who prioritize money from gun lobbyists over common sense regulation. Calling them out for being part of the problem is valid discourse.

I just operate from the assumption that all Republicans are batshit crazy.
Showing me a photo with them holding guns doesn't mean anything. It's their voting record and who they get money from that matters.
I mean, if it helps, ok. But the pearl clutching over photos that have been out this entire time now is empty.

Cmon dude, symbolism and intent matter and you know that. If all people used guns for was glamour shots and help getting it up, no one would care.

No shit, that is chilling as fuck. For all the shit cops take, the fact that they are willing to run into a fire fight like that to save lives is goddamned heroic. And I can't believe that video is public.

And is pointed out here and all over the place, this response really shines a light on the bullshit the Uvalde cops pulled. You can say it's heroic, and in many ways it is, but it's also what they're trained to do... Over and over and over again. They all go to Appleby's after the fact and get loaded and talk about how great the training was. Doesn't mean shit if you sit for 90 minutes when the real thing occurs.

Re: Guns: Infinity
From my anecdotal experience, I think good training is more an anomaly than the norm. Talked to my father a lot about this, and he blames most police misconduct or fuckups on bad training. He's been saying for at least 30 years that they get virtually no training. Talked to a friend in a local force when he did his once a year training on school shootings. Said it's a complete waste of time and unrealistic. Granted Customs Inspectors don't find themselves in shooting situations often, but they only had to go to a range two or three times a year. I forget the specs on the qualification, but it was incredibly easy. We had a high ranking manager who was legally blind, and he was able to pass every year. They told him the general direction of the target and he was able to put enough shots on target to qualify.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:09 am And is pointed out here and all over the place, this response really shines a light on the bullshit the Uvalde cops pulled. I know that on Jon Bernthal's podcast, early episodes had a Balt PD guy on and he talked about the lack of training being a huge issue.
(The problem for those Uvalde folks is that they had JUST GONE through active shooter training.)

Re: Guns: Infinity
For sure. 14 mins from when the attack started to when the perpetrator was killed by police. you can tell they have a plan and practiced it. They probably do it at the very schools themselves, and probably have been in this school, so they are familiar with the schools as something more than a floorplan on the hood of their patrol cruiser.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:09 am And is pointed out here and all over the place, this response really shines a light on the bullshit the Uvalde cops pulled. Re: Guns: Infinity
district-wide email we (high school parents) just got:
Dear __ families,
This morning law enforcement agencies responded to two schools in our region to investigate “swatting incidents” where a caller reported an active shooter in the school. Police responded and determined that both reports were unfounded. While we have not been a victim of swatting, the incidences continue to occur frequently throughout New York State.
I want to reassure you that our district takes all threats seriously and has a comprehensive safety plan and building safety protocols in place to respond immediately. Visitors to our buildings use a single entry point at the main entrance with a buzzer system, camera and dedicated staff to ask visitors their name and purpose of visit... blahblahblahblahcouncelinghowtotalktoyourkidsblahblah

our older kid currently studying in NZ and coming home in 2 weeks; has already stated a desire to stay there forever. duh.

A bunch of kids are calling in active shooter threats regarding our local high schools - which aren't even in session this week because it's spring break.MaxWebster wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 1:25 pm district-wide email we (high school parents) just got:

And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Re: Guns: Infinity
Apparently a separate shooting at a community college about 2 miles away. No idea if related, but I suspect not. 1 dead and 1 injured in that one.
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.

Re: Guns: Infinity
Dunno. If someone make contact with your vehicle and is purposely trying to run you off the road, I'd say you are justified in shooting. I just don't get the import of the water bottle. Seems like it's defeats the stand your ground defense to return fire... But running them off the road isn't enough but the water bottle is?
Re: Guns: Infinity
If you don't write the law so literally anything can scare you into shooting at people, there's a much higher chance a shooter will be successfully prosecuted.

Re: Guns: Infinity
Maybe they’re adopting NHL punishment rules and if the 5 year old had something more significant than a lower body injury the charges would have been harsher. Go Panthers.
