Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I saw the trailer, and it just seems like so much Theater Kid humor, I don't know if I can handle it. Plus, musicals drive me batty.

I never found Molly Shannon funny on SNL.

My wife and I, who don't mind a good musical now and then, just couldn't get through the first episode. The Sybian wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 5:19 pmI saw the trailer, and it just seems like so much Theater Kid humor, I don't know if I can handle it. Plus, musicals drive me batty.
Might be pretty good while watching high?
I really like both of the leads, so the bar is pretty low for me to like it. Which I think is kind of telling.

Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I think she kind of paved the way for some the women down the line to lean into the physical and weird stuff, but, yeah... her lane was mostly cringe humor coupled with physicality. Not everyone's cup of tea.

Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I agree. But having said that, I thought she played the over-involved moms pretty well in both The Other Two, and The White Lotus.

Re: Television (no longer temporary)
Yeah, the SNL was pretty poor, but she is great on The Other Two and was by far the best thing on I Love That For You.

Wasn't a huge Molly Shannon fan either ... other than this recurring skit.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: Television (no longer temporary)
Just realized that it's Uncle Rico in The White Lotus.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

Didn’t we have a discussion somewhere already about Jon Gries’ CV or did I imagine that?

So Last Week Tonight ran an alternative segment.on Chuck E. Cheese (not part of the aired version). I knew lots of this but surprised they did not hold this content for a slow week. Pretty fun.

I can't remember if there are any Snowfall watchers, but you could see that last scene in the penultimate episode coming a mile away. Still a very underrated show that's having a fantastic final season.

I like the show but I’m two seasons behind. But looking forward to finishing it.

I missed the Cliffhangers thing a few days ago but I'd like to admit that game scared the shit out of me when I was little.
Re: Television (no longer temporary)
Florida Man on Netflix is not too bad. Good characters, fun story, fun side story, and zany Florida (but not too much of it).
Re: Television (no longer temporary)
Not sure who is watching Lucky Hank but last night's episode of the dinner party was some fantastic storytelling.

2.5 episodes in and I can't tell if I like it. His inclusion in the cast has Twitter reminding everyone how much of a creep David Choe is (the cousin in the show, and sometimes Bill Simmons, Joe House, David Chang podcast guest).

That's exactly where I'm at with Beef. I'm watching it more to see where it goes than through an "enjoyment" factor. (We're only 2 episodes in)

Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I had somewhat of an idea what the premise was before starting it, and my wife was like, "Oh no, I've seen a few episodes, it's not like Falling Down or Natural Born Killers, you should watch."
I'm not saying it's exactly like either of those, but I don't really get much enjoyment from an anxiety watch.

So was adding it to the give it a watch list and then the Buzz picked up and felt obligated so I did not miss out and am way out of touch, like I was with Squid Games or others that I was way behind on.

100 Foot Wave is back. Got part way through last night. Once again beautiful camera work, but I don't like Garrett.

Saw that show up on the HBOMax feed last night when cranking up Succession. I'm fascinated with Nazare. I'll have to watch.

Stumbled across "Jury Duty" on Prime. Its a comedy in the style of The Office/Parks & Rec where the premise is a civil jury trial but everyone involved is an actor EXCEPT FOR ONE GUY ON THE JURY who thinks he is serving on a real jury. Really funny through the first 6 episodes and looking forward to seeing how it resolves at the end.

Rabbit Hole on Paramount (Kiefer Sutherland).

Jury Duty is pretty funny but they found the right buffoon because other than Marsden I recognize at least two of the other “jurors” from other acting gigs. One guy has been in Community and a shitton of other stuff.

Watched the first episode and it has potential. Love Marsden, and he is so good in this role. Only actor I recognized was Mekki Leeper, as he is a comedian. I saw a great bit he did on his girlfriend leaving him for an NBA player. Which is extra funny as he is tiny and effeminate.

A little too mean sometimes. Last episode was worth it.
