This is a key item on this person's agenda.mister d wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 12:44 pmRight. The kids at my kids' schools are going to exist whether or not politicians want them to, so what's the end goal here? Hate for hates sake? To have a mechanism to remove (prosecute?) supportive teachers who use their proper pronouns? As part of a wider attack on public schooling?

Re: Random Politics
Is it an automatic special election for house seats in NY or is it appointed through end of term? If it's the former, I can see why they aren't expelling him.

Re: Random Politics
For the House, it's always an election. The seat remains vacant until the election takes place. (And when the balance in the House is close to even, governors have been known to delay these elections so as to prevent the opposition party from refilling the seat.)A_B wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 12:54 pmIs it an automatic special election for house seats in NY or is it appointed through end of term? U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 2, Clause 4 wrote:When vacancies happen in the Representation from any State, the Executive Authority thereof shall issue Writs of Election to fill such Vacancies.

Yeah, I think your bet is safe. If they aren't going to remove him from committee seats for all the lies, they surely aren't going to expel him for an indictment. As I was typing I got a notice that Santos pled not guilty, so we can take him at his words that he didn't do anything illegal.

The Town Hall is being led by Kaitlin Collins, who got her start working for the Daily Caller, which was run by Tucker Carlson. I'm pretty sure the questions are going to be more along the lines of "why are you so awesome?".L-Jam3 wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 12:49 pmIf they're not peppering him on January 6th, losing the popular vote twice, COVID, Charlottesville, Hurricane Maria, blackmailing Zelensky, ponying up to the Saudis, self-enrichment, ponying up to Putin, increasing wealth disparity, promoting racism and division, or failing to get the infrastructure bill through even though he had majorities in both houses, then what the fuck are they doing this for?

Kaitlin doesn’t typically lean that way though. I’ve followed her for quite some time and she’s much more middle of the road than you would expect given her background.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 2:06 pmThe Town Hall is being led by Kaitlin Collins, who got her start working for the Daily Caller, which was run by Tucker Carlson. Re: Random Politics
Jesus Christ.
That reminds me of this retired dude that worked on Kirtland when I had first arrived there. He was now a GS getting paid to do some sort of clerical or administrative work. Wheelchair bound and on oxygen. He required lots of breaks and downtime in between "working" because he fatigued so rapidly. Regular military folks had to constantly pick up his slack. He eventually had to be removed from his position and passed away shortly thereafter because his health got really, really bad all of sudden. But I just couldn't not think about his entitlement the entire time taking up space in a working environment and refusing to quit and just enjoy the rest of his days. He was regularly a topic in staff meetings because of everything.

Ha, I thought you’d call me out on either Malkin or SE Cupp. No longer remotely attracted to either. Malkin disappearing made the hate go away. Re: Random Politics
This debt ceiling issue is really frustrating. They cut trillions of dollars of revenue with corporate tax breaks, and then want to shore it up by taking away all the benefits. Benefits provided to poor people. This Medicaid thing where they want to tie work requirements to it is a an example. The underlying premise is that people are poor because they are lazy. Such bullshit.
