I'm not gonna give jerry Springer a thread if Harry Belafonte didn't get one. Wouldn't discrepect the GROAT either.
and (precursor to mid80s Edmonton Oilers?) they were dismantled far earlier than they should have been, simply due to ownership/finances. Compare the 1974 team to 1977 - yeesh.
No offence to Mitchell Page (i had about 120 of his Topps cards that year with the cool "all rookie" logo in the lower corner).

I feel like those 70s A’s teams don’t get the historical love they deserve. They were one loaded squad.

And of course their two best years during that run were 1971 and 1975, and they lost in the ALCS both years. They also only finished 2.5 back in 1976.
This really mattered to me at the time because the Cubs traded Billy Williams to the A's after the 1974 season, so he'd have a chance to win a pennant. He did get to experience the 1975 ALCS, but that was it.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
...but for real the name didn't ring a bell until i clicked through to the article and saw the picture of them in 1982. Weekend TV memories unlocked - wow.

Joe Kapp...Cal/BC Lions/Vikings QB and Cal Head Coach (was the coach for the "Band on The Field" win over Stanford).
(quite a cover headline).
He also sued the NFL...and won.
This incident was biggish news up here about a decade ago.
Heather Armstrong, OG mommy blogger, who really pioneered the age of the influencer (for good and for bad) commits suicide at the age of 47. Really sad.
I know this will float like a lead balloon on this board, but she wrote about leaving the Mormon church, depression and struggles with alcoholism... and how that all affected her being a mother. She was open and honest in an era when women were still being fed sanitized, bullshit platitudes about how wonderful it was all supposed to be. She was also relentlessly funny.
I hope she's found some peace. Feel horrible for her two kids, both still in their teenage years.

That’s rough.
