If the section that burned down on I85 a few years ago is anything close 95 won't be used for a year or so
Re: I-95 in Philly
I’m heading down to the game today for an early Father’s Day present, but fortunately I had to stop at their mom’s so I can drive through the city.

Re: I-95 in Philly
I’m having some minor deja vu, like this happened once already, in Philly?
Also, how does this directly affect the me who has to drive to U Penn, the Linc, a hotel out by the airport and then La Salle next Fri/Sat and probably back to Penn on Sunday?

Tanker truck? Was it carrying milk or fuel from one of the refineries? Are HAZMATs even allowed under overpasses?

Oh no this is right by Four Seasons Total Landscaping isn’t it? I hope it was unaffected.

The accent work here is incredible...
Re: I-95 in Philly
Agree with those who hear a Baltimore accent there too (E. Balt / Hampden, really).

Re: I-95 in Philly
If you want to nerd out, there's a lot out there talking about the Baltimore and Philly accent being related, but different.
A lot of folks who come in to do shows like The Wire and Mare of Eastown slip into mixing the two up.

Rass is right, something similar but less road eliminating happened in March 1996. This never came up when I began my Philadelphia tenure in August of that year.
(I'm assuming that by now that interview has been confirmed as the dude doing a bit?)

Well not that long ago this hit Atlanta. Was a nightmare for traffic but the contractors got a motivated government to hit dates.mister d wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 8:40 am Rass is right, something similar but less road eliminating happened in March 1996. Re: I-95 in Philly
Just felt like a year. That kind of closure impacts traffic in a lot of places. That also looks a lot bigger than the I85 overpass in Atlanta. Let me guess. It was a crackhead?

Nothing left of that truck. Human remains found with family identifying who it was, though not confirmed.
How do you all get your death notices since I left?

Re: I-95 in Philly
Since this is the closest we have to a dedicated Philly thread.
I mentioned upthread that I’m headed down this weekend and did the same previously in more detail in somethread. So anything within reasonable walking distance of the Linc lots? Keeping in mind I’ll have a 17 year old with me. Or should we just load up on wawa and I’ll bring an obligatory beer or two for the parking lot scene and make due people watching?

Xfinity Live is a passable place with a bunch of local vendors right between the Linc and the Bank. It’s on the site of the old Spectrum.
Plus they got the statues of Doctor J and Joe Frazier, among others.

Re: I-95 in Philly
Nothing to do with the parking lot, but if you're staying over and willing to wait in a bit of a line, Korshak Bagels are A+. Might be my favorite I've ever had.

Both of those might work, though I'll probably grab some sandwiches just in case. And she's not running on Saturday (so I am driving back to NNJ on Saturday after the La Salle tour and then driving back down to Philly on Sunday) and she loves a good bagel almost as much as me. Thanks guys.

Sadly Pete Rose didn't get one.
Re: I-95 in Philly
Xfinity Live is pretty OK? I got a beer right away and they have a Chickie and Pete’s and she loves them.
She also loved Penn. I did too, or the campus at least. Storm was cresting as we parked and was done by the time we got out for the tour.

And to stick to the thread they have an I95 construction live cam up on one of the big screens at the sports bar.

You can check “public urination but dude at least makes an attempt to hide it” off the Philly bingo card. Open public urination is still up for grabs.

Korshak’s off the agenda due to not opening until 9AM.

Re: I-95 in Philly
So Korshak is right near Pat’s/Geno’s which are or were open all night but don’t have bathrooms. If you’re looking to see some pissin’ it won’t take long there after 1:00 AM or so.
Re: I-95 in Philly
Temporary lanes will allow traffic to flow at the accident site as soon as this weekend
I think the only time I was affected by this was driving back down to Philly on Sunday. Waze decided a mostly 95 South-centric route was in order and we had to hop off (not sure where we were exactly, drove past Dagwood's Pub) and then hop back on.
