Funny, I just went through his IMDB and I thought I saw The Other Guys, but I watched the trailer and I don’t think I did. Took me awhile to figure out what I was confusing it with… The Nice Guys. So no, I’ve never seen the Rock in anything, but I did see The Rock.
He's only in The Other Guys for about 3 minutes.

I have definitely seen movies with the Rock, but I have managed to avoid the entire Fast Saga.

Interesting that no one has posted about going to see FastX, even though its the "biggest movie in the World", according to the ads during the NBA playoffs.

(I've only seen the first one...back when they were thieves who were stealing DVD/VCR players)

It grossed over $300 million in the opening weekend, so someone is definitely watching them.

I think I wrote a defense (not too passionate) of the series here at some point. I saw the first one in the theater and didn't really keep up after that, but at some point during "lockdown" we ripped through the whole series with the kids and starting at 5 they turned into top-level action movies. But I really didn't enjoy 9 all that much, and the reviews for X have been not great and I was legitimately surprised when I saw one of the "biggest movie in the world" commercials last weekend because I didn't realize it had been released.

I have seen portions of whatever part of the series is airing on whatever streaming or TNT channel it was on at the time. I have a vague notion of the general tone, but couldn't name a character or really sketch out an outline of the general plot of things.

I'm not mad at it, I just have never gotten around to giving a shit.

My entire experience with the series is going through the Fast and Furious ride at Universal in LA several years ago. Which was pretty damn cool.

I pretty much agree with all of this. I laughed at a couple lines, the acting was all great, but what was the fecking point of it? I really didn't give a shit about any of it.
What was the fecking point of it, was the fecking point of it
Which in my opinion didn't make for much of a movie. The acting was great, but ultimately, "so what?"

Although I wouldn't mind having a miniature donkey.
I thought this movie was fecking great.
Strange thing is that the next day I started thinking about it and I realized that it was really good.
Same
I finally watched this (over two flights). A bit slow-paced, but in the end, I enjoyed it. I liked the guy who played Dominic, and I also want a miniature donkey.

Wonder why a movie like Oppenheimer would be rated “R”. Do the scientists have an orgy?

Language, adult themes, ending a war through extreme measures. Who knows.

If I were the type of person who made movies I’d prefer it to be rated r.

(no, it wasn't...)
We came across transcriptions of my grandfather's autobiographical tapes. He was thinking of writing a book, so he dictated his story and his wife typed them up. It turns out he was involved in developing the atomic bomb, not the nuclear part but in designing the conventional explosives to create the right kind of pressure wave to trigger the atomic reaction. He worked mostly at Oak Ridge in Tennessee, but he went to Los Alamos a few times. He knew Oppenheimer and all the big players (was very close friends with Teller).

He left out the orgy stories though. But knowing what a slut he was, I wouldn't be surprised.

Oak Ridge getting some serious run in The Swamp the last few weeks!

(In the Proud Parent thread, wlu mentioned one of the teams staying at his son's hotel was from Oak Ridge. If you don't know Oak Ridge's history, it's pretty fascinating and was part of the whole Manhattan Project deal.)

Totally forgot about them!

Looking them up, the very OG version of the group was (some guy) and the Georgia Clodhoppers. They were asked to perform for the ppl of Oak Ridge during WW2 so often that they changed their names to the Oak Ridge Quartet. They started as a gospel group but switched to mainstream country in the 70s.

I think one of the few things I regret about living in New Mexico is that I didn't visit the Trinity Site.

But in my defense, it's only open twice a year. And when it does open, a lot of people go.

God I love you so much. I haven't. And it was kind of a protest. Alex (my trans son) said he wants to watch it but didn't want to support first weekend sales so we did not go last week due to Ezra Miller's issues. It's a much bigger deal to him than I imagined but I wanted to be supportive. And then seeing reviews we are probably going to just wait til it streams.

You should go see it in the theater. I thought it was well done. Not as dark and depressing as most DC movies. I would rank it in the top 3 of movies in the DCEU/DCU (although that isn't saying too much).

I understand your son's reluctance to support Ezra Miller. My girls and I felt the same way.

Who is #1? Mine is still Kate Winslet.

My wife has a hall pass list (duh) and she lost her shit when I sent her a pic of him and me from a Ryan Bingham show. That's what she gets for rarely joining me!
