So, now it says one invite every two weeks. Maybe I misread it before, but I swear it said 2 invites a week. Maybe they changed it. Still waiting on my next one.

And of course two hours after L-Jam sends the invite code to me, I got one from Bluesky itself.

So it's available if anyone wants it.

Look, I like George Takei, but his posts absolutely dominate my BlueSky feed. Like at least 2/3 posts are his posts or reposts. Anyone else seeing that? It makes it hard to get into. Maybe I need to Unfollow him.

Also, I have two invitations if anyone needs one still.

I don’t follow Takei but definitely notice the feed being dominated if someone I do follow is particularly active at some point in the recent past.

I get a lot of Neil Gaiman.

On the other hand, unlike Twitter, there's no dearth of Darth.

I wouldn't count on it. Things picked up for me when college football started going (I follow the Shutdown Fullcast people and that's about it), but there was no change when the NFL started. Most established sports Twitter accounts are going to stay there until it dies. They are not going to take the time trying to rebuild their audience, be it 15K for a Power 5 basketball beat reporter to 125K for a national NHL reporter to 10.4M for Schefter.

Until those media people have a reason to move, they won't. Too much already expended, especially with no clear second place to go.

But they can post in both, right? Why would they not do that?

Relatedly, how hard would it be to have a macro or app or whatever that posted your posts on multiple platforms simultaneously?

Many accounts do post in both. Lots of what I see in Bluesky, I've already seen in Twitter because they do post in both. It's just copy-and-paste.

However, these people are doing their job providing sports info to the widest possible audience ("get engagement/clicks/eyeballs"), which is not going to happen to a niche, invitation-only social media outlet populated by people who mostly are there specifically due to their personal beliefs.

I just loaded my home page. I can see 6 posts. Three are by Takei. One is a Takei repost. The other two are both posts that he replied to. So, 100% of my page is dictated by one account. I'm following 24 accounts. I'm not sure this site's gonna make it.
