Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
U15's beat Mexico 4-2 to take the CONCACAF title. Beat Cuba, Qatar and Haiti in the group and then Haiti again in the semis.
Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
Also Dest not getting registered by Barcelona. He was fighting for a spot on the team. So he is at risk of not having a team this year. MLS is interested, but he wants to stay in Europe.

Barcelona did this shit last year too. They're a mess for certain (though not nearly as injury snakebitten as Madrid), but La Liga's rules on this are pretty onerous.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.

US players so ubiquitous it's not surprising when the make moves and are joining an incumbent. (pepi). And I forgot that Malik Tillman is there, too.

In my crash course of watching all these Inter Miami games, there's a kid that has really popped up on the radar: Benjamin Cremaschi. Dude is a dual US-ARG player and he has shown some really great finishing and passing skills in and around the box the last month or so.
Might just be playing alongside the best player on the planet, but... Linking him up with Pulisic, Weah, Reyna, Aaronsen etc sure would be fun to see if he can fit in.

Everyone has looked better playing near Messi. I mean Yedlin has come alive.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 11:06 am In my crash course of watching all these Inter Miami games, there's a kid that has really popped up on the radar: Benjamin Cremaschi. Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
Is it too reductive to think that it Messi doesn’t like him enough to talk him into playing for ARG (which I’d assume wouldn’t take a hard sell right now) then we shouldn’t want him either?

He's in the U20 player pool for ARG. But, ultimately, as bullish as I am about the US player pool, it is DWARFED by a pool the size of ARG.

I’m going to guess it’s a lot higher bar to get looked at for the Argentine team than US. I’d say nobody in MLS would get a look, but I think there was an MLS player on the Arg WC team.

Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
Ok fair enough but in a world where Messi really likes the kid you think he isn’t getting a look based on nothing more than that and assuming the kid worships Messi you think he isn’t thinking with his heart instead of his head if it comes to that?

3 games with US U-19s..other are just camp apperances.wikipedia wrote:He was called up to the United States under-19s for their winning campaign at the Slovenia Nations Cup in September 2022.[6] He was called up to a training camp for the United States under-20s in October 2022 to prepare for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.[7] On December 7, 2022, he was called up to the Argentina under-20s for a training camp in anticipation of the 2023 South American U-20 Championship.[8]

Waiting 10 months to have a conversation seems like a brilliant idea. Ripping open the wound of the decision to hire GGG.

The best way to address a problem created by talking to the media about a sensitive in-house matter is talking to the media about how you plan to address the problem created by talking to the media about the sensitive in-house matter.
Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
shitty human on top of shitty coach
Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
Right. This is so clearly an image play for the types who want to praise the coach for trying to handle this “the right way” rather than actually trying to clean this mess up the right way.

Cremaschi officially added to September friendly roster.

Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
So Nations League on Nov 16th looks like the first chance we'd have to cap-tie him if he's willing and we're interested?
Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
Well this game has been interesting.
Thought
1.) Great touch by Westin and finish by Weah (even with the deflection)
2.) So much offense is creating sloppy and casual play resulting in too many counter/turnover and giving Uzbekistan good chances that better teams will make the team pay for.
3.) What is DaMarcus B wearing..Those running shoes with the no sock, high pant suit look is something....

Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
So the USMNT is better than teams that may but may not qualify for an expanded world cup...good thing we figured that out. The clogging of fixtures due to Nations Leagues, Euro qualification, and World Cup qualification is going to be a problem for the US, Mexico, and Canada finding good competition. Especially with no concacaf qualifications for them.

Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
They play Germany and Ghana in the next window, so that should balance these minnows pretty well.
It's a little surreal watching this version of the USMNT. They were so clearly the more talented and sophisticated side that it felt like a Varsity vs. JV scrimmage at times.
Meanwhile, MEX tied Uzbekistan 3-3 last night. I think the US was a little fortunate to catch them jet-lagged and out of sorts, but, still... WTF is going on with MEX??

Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
Oman is probably not much worse than the non-MEX/CRC/CAN teams we play in CONCACAF. The FIFA rankings seem to bear that out. Looking forward to that next set of games, though.

Only Oman tried to play soccer and didn't constantly hack the fuck out of our ankles.

Exactly. Neither of these last two teams got the memo that they're supposed to kick the shit out Pulisic for 90+ minutes.

BTW, I just read that the Fed tried booking CONMEBOL opponents for this window but when they decided to hold WCQs in this window that plan got binned.

Re: USMNT - 2026 Cycle - "Early Days"
Admittedly, the second half against GER showed how there's still miles to go.. But, watching this tonight.
This is, by far, the most talented, coherent team I've ever watched for the USMNT. The 2002 squad was scrappy and resilient... loved them. The guys that went down to South America in the mid 90s and got results at the Copa? Fuckin' A cool.
This team? The ceiling is ridiculously high. These guys could make a semi-final run... easy.
