Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
Castellanos is fucking mashing right now.
Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
Now I can exhale.
Thomson started using his best relievers (Alvarado / Kimbrel / Soto) earlier in the highest leverage situations. I thought that after how Francona used Andrew Miller in the most important situations regardless of the inning, managers would start doing this more in the playoffs. I don’t recall if that strategy became more popular, or I just didn’t take note of it. Does anyone remember if other teams used it since Miller?

Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
I was about to come make a reverse jinx post about how this is the Rangers' year, then Yordan hits one to Galveston.

That's OK, C Jonah Heim just launched one to Amarillo.

Really more like League City if we're being geographically accurate here.

Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
That would be like a 4,200 foot home run in comparison which I don't think any of those Yankees on steroids ever did!

Yeah Pujols was a cardinal.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

Who is yordan Alvarez. I would not pitch to him again
Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
I’m obviously no Astros fan but fuck Aroldis Chapman.

They just fucked it smolt’s programming and he spoke in binary for a bit.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.
Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
Alvarez should try hitting three home runs next time.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.
Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
Smoltz called it a good pitch / good piece of hitting, but in reality when they showed the replay, Chapman hung an 89 mph slider on the outside part of the plate, and Alvarez could time his swing.

I wasn't even intoxicated. Just can't type. Or maybe there was some young salmon on the broadcast?

fwiw. and maybe this is just me and my perspective, but the Rangers going nuclear and being 7-0 so far in the playoffs is taking some of sting out of them housing the Orioles like they did.
Not for nothing, but a Rangers/Phillies series would pit two teams on absolute heaters and I would watch the shit out of that.

Yeah, I remember feeling that way in '15 when KC beat us and then went on to win the World Series.tennbengal wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:05 am fwiw. and maybe this is just me and my perspective, but the Rangers going nuclear and being 7-0 so far in the playoffs is taking some of sting out of them housing the Orioles like they did.

Everything they hit seems to fall in, pitchers turning into Bob Gibson, just an insanely well timed hot streak. They almost missed the damn playoffs entirely!Giff wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:50 amYeah, I remember feeling that way in '15 when KC beat us and then went on to win the World Series.tennbengal wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:05 am fwiw. and maybe this is just me and my perspective, but the Rangers going nuclear and being 7-0 so far in the playoffs is taking some of sting out of them housing the Orioles like they did.

Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
Two road wins over the Rays! Two more road wins over the Os! And now two road wins over the Astros!
They are 7-0 and have only played one game at home in that stretch.
What the actual fuck.

Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
In fairness, the Astros have as many home wins since 9/14 as the Texans.

Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
Between Harper's Boner in Game 2 and the Rangers being -7 in September and finishing 2-4 to blow the division, I do not want to hear about carryover momentum ever again.
Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
Then how do you explain AB's ongoing Harper boner?

This was me to a lesser extent in '07 when we were in the middle of that 21 out of 22 Rockies buzzsaw.Giff wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:50 amYeah, I remember feeling that way in '15 when KC beat us and then went on to win the World Series.tennbengal wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:05 am fwiw. and maybe this is just me and my perspective, but the Rangers going nuclear and being 7-0 so far in the playoffs is taking some of sting out of them housing the Orioles like they did.

Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
Where the 2 seed Phils played the Wild Card Rockies, because the top seed wouldn't play the Wild Card winner back then if they were in the same division. (Even though it was actually more fair that year since technically the top seed played the playoff team with the worst record.)L-Jam3 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 11:03 amThis was me to a lesser extent in '07 when we were in the middle of that 21 out of 22 Rockies buzzsaw.Giff wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:50 amYeah, I remember feeling that way in '15 when KC beat us and then went on to win the World Series.tennbengal wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:05 am fwiw. and maybe this is just me and my perspective, but the Rangers going nuclear and being 7-0 so far in the playoffs is taking some of sting out of them housing the Orioles like they did.

I'd say if you don't have one, that's a far bigger issue.

Except that they would have about 5 days off between series and that would ruin everything.tennbengal wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:05 am fwiw. and maybe this is just me and my perspective, but the Rangers going nuclear and being 7-0 so far in the playoffs is taking some of sting out of them housing the Orioles like they did.

Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
The Dodgers would have won every game by 10 runs if they had just started the day after the season was over. So unfair!

And, the Rangers have as many wins in Houston as either of them in that period.

i always like ("like") to use the 2000 Yankees as the perfect antidote to that momentum nonsense. I don't remember many - let alone any decent - teams on a reverse-heater like that team over their final 2 weeks, not just losses but getting curbstomped to no end.
Then they were just like fuck it and won the Series again with little difficulty.
(if i'm using any cliché at all it's "momentum is only as good as tomorrow's starting pitcher")

Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
I appreciate that all the venues in Philly are in the same spot, but tonight is where it turns into a madhouse. The Flyers home opener is tonight at 6 pm, and at 8 pm the NLCS Game 2 is starting at the same time as a Mexico / Germany friendly.

The 07 Rockies are also a decent example, going from 21/22 to a 4-game sweep.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
Re: 2023 MLB Postseason - October is here
True, but they also had 9 days off between winning the NLCS and G1 of the World Series.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 2:25 pmSame.MaxWebster wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 1:07 pm i always like ("like") to use the 2000 Yankees as the perfect antidote to that momentum nonsense.
