Because he got excited like most Astros do after HRS? When Abreu hasn’t even given up a HR to him in two years? That is some impressive mental gymnastics, my haters.
All six umpires thought he drilled him intentionally. We're not the ones doing cartwheels.

Oh, no shit? I didn’t realize what I was complaining about! Appreciate that! Now I know you never ever disagree with any call that goes against your teams because a professional official made the determination, so why would they ever be wrong!?

Hey, you're the one who accused others of mental gymnastics. Hell, if MLB decided there was enough plausible deniability, they might not have suspended him at all, despite the half a dozen umpires who all agreed he purposely hit him with a 99 mph fastball.

Like I said before - Maldonado was setup outside. Abreu went rogue with it up and in. Did it get away from him? Well, he hit 3 guys out of the 287 batters he faced during the regular season. If he had hit 13 batters this season, his plausible deniability goes through the roof.

I expect Houston to kick the crap out of Texas tomorrow night, but good for Adolis Garcia for jacking that grand slam to blow the game open, all but forcing a game 7.

Brutal error by Altuve last night to go with his .304 postseason OBP. You wonder how much longer Dusty can keep penciling him in before it really bites them.

Assuming Philly beats AZ to reach the WS...

Philly, Texas and Houston all had 90-72 records. Philly took 2 of 3 vs Houston, and lost all three games to Texas. So, if Houston wins, Philly has HFA. If Texas wins, Texas has HFA.

Knowing that suspensions are now “eh, let’s just wait until next year”, there’s probably a strategic time for a reliever to throw one (safely!) behind Garcia’s head and see if you can bait him into an ejection.

Every player from every team should just do crazy bat flips or dances from now on when they do something good. That way, if they’re beaned later in the game, MLB has now deemed that is intentional.

EDITED to remove “act a fool” because I truly had no issue with Garcia’s reaction to a HR in the biggest game of the season just like most other Astros fans.

If Garcia does what Maldonado did when he was hit last night, is Abreu ejected? Absolutely not. We are not having this conversation.

Maldy should have gone after the catcher and had the pitcher ejected since that’s how things work now.

Adolis Garcia is already tied for second for most RBI in a single post-season and the other guys are David Freese and Corey Seager? Why doesn't that seem like a real stat?

Nothing to do with the postseason, but I found this to be an interesting article. Here's an excerpt:
SF Chronic wrote: When reflecting on the Oakland Athletics’ historically awful 2023 season, it’s easy to blame owner John Fisher for the stinginess that has turned the organization into a shell of itself, with no hope for on-field success.

But a deeper look shows that Fisher was particularly cheap in an area the A’s once dominated: analytics.

In the early 2000s, the A’s were the envy of huge-revenue clubs, driven by data and strategies that helped them field contending teams despite low-end payrolls and resources.

Over time, MLB’s other teams bought into employing analytics and technology, but the A’s haven’t kept up and, as in other areas within the organization, are extremely limited in their analytics department, a shameful turn for a franchise that introduced the use of modern metrics to Major League Baseball.

“It is ironic with Oakland being the ‘Moneyball’ team,” said Zack Scott, an analytics expert who has worked with many MLB teams, his longest tenure coming with the Red Sox, who won four World Series championships during his association with Boston.

Scott, 46, is founder and CEO of Four Rings Sports Solutions, a company that assists pro sports teams in player acquisition and optimization. Among his many services, he conducts comprehensive research to annually rank MLB’s teams by the number of their full-time analytics employees.

On the top of MLB’s 30 teams in 2023 were the low-budget but highly innovative Tampa Bay Rays with 44, one more full-timer than the filthy rich New York Yankees.

At the bottom: the A’s. [more]

It’s painful but you’ll live.

I did 20 consecutive years of really good San Jose Sharks’ teams who always came up short in the playoffs - often in game sevens.
