Yeah, I don't think that's a hot take. I feel like every strip center here has a nail salon, a vape shop, and some sort of ramen or pho place.

Orrrr, their first game of the State Championship tournament is tomorrow. Yeah, he’s a real piece of work. It did sound like he was in shock, and that’s what really freaked my daughter out.
I’m guessing some parent will mention his response to the authorities.
Spoke to the father of the girl who passed out. Turns out it was a bit less dramatic than my daughter's telling. Father said she took a shot to the stomach (not the chest), it knocked the wind out her and she panicked, causing her to pass out. Doctors confirmed there was no heart issue. Still scary for the kids and coaches, but less scary for her to be on the field playing the next day.

There's a ramen place a mile or two from us. It is meh. There's another totally on the other side of Denver. Fan-fucking-tastic.
The really good Thai place near us was a victim of the pandemic, at least we have a +Indian place down the street.

and I was rather blah about Ramen until I had spectacular ramen when I was in London. I've been trying to recreate that high.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

Mint is shutting down, and it’s pushing users toward Credit Karma

I'm pretty certain I first learned about this app from this board and I've used it ever since. Over time it has gotten worse and keeps pushing me to pay for little things here and there.

I guess I'll move to Credit Karma unless I can find an app with the same functionality.

Getting text alerts for your father-in-law's heart surgery (instead of his daughters because you're the one picking him up later, which...) is a bit too "watching your troubled plane land on the news from the plane" for me.

I was a wreck when my wife had surgery a couple years ago and it was just something with her septum. I can't imagine this kind of worry.

If people cooked steak and chicken as badly as they cook broccoli and brusselsprouts, we'd be vegetarian. Had this thought this morning, felt like the only right place to put it.

Look I definitely deleted that last one and put it in the Culinary Hot Takes thread, I'm a little out of practice. Definitely.

They have a Pure Prairie League meets Atlanta Rhythm Section dabbling in Little Feat vibe to them. They know how to write a hook!

And the reason I'm including Little Feat in that amalgamation is the lead guitarist's slide work in Jackie Blue. That's just haunted. Good stuff.

Starting month 3 of ADHD meds (generic adderall) - hadn't really noticed much of an affect the first few months - but after skipping it on Sunday and forgetting to take it yesterday - took it today and...oh, yeah. Now I get it. Huge difference.

I was on generic Adderall for a bit, I found it made me edgy and I could feel it ramping me up. I also had zero temper, like I could snap before I even felt annoyed and couldn't feel it coming on. Quickly switched to Mydayis which had all the help concentrating with none of the speediness or rage issues. Problem with that, after several months I felt like I adjusted to it, and taking the drug became my former baseline. Doctor failed to tell me not to take it every day, but at most 5 days a week. Then I felt like my work days were my old normal, and weekends were a fucking slog. I felt like I was in a haze and by 3:00 pm I couldn't stay awake no matter how much coffee or energy drinks I pounded. Eventually quit cold turkey and after a week or two, I feel ok without it. I don't think I can concentrate as well, but I don't want to feel stuck taking it all the time, and those weekends off the med were brutal.
