Do the Jaguars go 0-16?

Post by brian »

Yeah, they've been historically bad, but I think they can get at least one win in the back half of their season. The schedule isn't exactly daunting:

Sun, Nov 10 @ Tennessee
Sun, Nov 17 vs Arizona
Sun, Nov 24 @ Houston
Sun, Dec 1 @ Cleveland
Thu, Dec 5 vs Houston
Sun, Dec 15 vs Buffalo
Sun, Dec 22 vs Tennessee
Sun, Dec 29 @ Indianapolis

Best chances will probably be that three-game home stretch of Houston, Buffalo and Tennessee. None of those three teams look like they'll have much to play for at that point. @Cleveland is obviously do-able also.

I'm checking around to see if any sports books have posted a line yet on if they'll go 0-16.

They are worse than the 2008 Lions but, it just seems so hard to go 0-16.

But they are the worst team I've ever seen. Those '08 Lions and '07 Dolphins I think would be heavy favorites over them.

As bad as the '08 Lions were, I think the '09 Rams were even worse. That team's only win was against a 2-14 Lions team.

Yeah, possibly. At least they had some close ones in addition.

Jacksonville's closest game was a 10 point loss to Oakland. That's insane.

No mention of Tampa's ability to go 0-16? Seems like it should be a poll.

Despite the mutiny going on there, seems like they have too much talent to not win a game.

You'd think. Although, the Bucs just announced Mike Williams is out for the year. That's one less talent.

Don't forget the rookie QB and Martin out for who knows how long (Schiano taking another page from Belichick's "How to Deal with the Media" book).

Of course, they actually let Revis play man-to-man for a decent amount of time a couple weeks ago, so maybe things are getting just a little better.

Sun, Nov 3 @ Seahawks
Mon, Nov 11 vs. Dolphins
Sun, Nov 17 vs. Falcons
Sun, Nov 24 @ Lions
Sun, Dec 1 @ Panthers
Sun, Dec 8 vs. Bills
Sun, Dec 15 vs. 49ers
Sun, Dec 22 @ Rams
Sun, Dec 29 @ Saints

There's a few games left where you can see the Bucs breaking through.

Yeah, they'll have a good chance vs. Miami and Buffalo at home. Puncher's chance home vs. ATL and at STL and as much as I hate to admit it even at Detroit. That's a classic-type game for the Lions to lose.

Saw a tweet Saturday with a Vegas guy saying that 13 Jags vs. 08 Lions would be a pick'em

Sounds about right. The two best played on the field would be WRs and it wouldn't even be close (Megatron & Justin Blackmon)

If the Jags beat the Bills, I will be astounded. The Bills aren't very good, but they play hard - something that I don't think can be said about a couple of other teams that the Jags face. Still, this is a team that tends to be out of games by halftime.

As bad as the Browns and Texans have looked this year, it would take whatever the opposite of "Herculean Effort" is to lose to this Jaguar team.

That Browns-Jags game has the makings of being another "Only In Cleveland" moment.

Maybe if it were in Jacksonville. If that game is in Detroit I'm taking the Lions if they are getting less than 7.

I remember that '08 team playing a lot of close games. Jax hasn't been close to anything.

Ex-Jaguars employee reportedly accused of stealing $22 million from team
Here is a list of everything Patel was reportedly alleged to have bought, used or accrued with proceeds from the scheme:

a condo in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
a Tesla Model 3
a Nissan pickup truck
online gambling bets
a designer watch worth over $95,000
private jets and luxury hotels for travel with his friends
a retainer with a criminal defense law firm
cryptocurrency
NFTs
assorted electronics
sports memorabilia
a country club membership
spa treatments
concerts and sporting event tickets

The law firm retainer at least shows he was thinking ahead.
