A month ago, it was a Bills' fans fantasy that the game in Miami next week would be for the division.

KC punt returner just brought one out after fielding it in the end zone. First time I’ve ever seen that.

That’s now 17 for 17 for Tomlin avoiding a losing season.

Cincy is out, so next Sunday night will likely be Buffalo-Miami (AFC East) or Houston-Indy (win or go home).

That’s not the same thing. Like, what you’re talking about is balls and strikes. What happened with the two pt conversion would be like if a baseball team announced a pinch hitter, but then the umpire ruled him out because the team batted out of order. One is a bad call, the other is a complete misinterpretation of procedure.

It's the shit they don't see. It's like they don't see how many games they won because they had to stop calling plays and just let Ben do it for so many years. Because they don't watch the games.
He was wrong. He refused to evaluate the QB situation in practice and flat-out admitted to it until public perception became too much. Now they want to give hime credit. It's gross.

The WR room changes from 2022 to 2023:tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 6:19 pmIts fookin' nuts.L-Jam3 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 6:19 pmIt’s like Andy Reid looked back fondly on his WR corps in the early 2000s in Philly and wanted to recreate that.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 5:36 pmMan alive, the malpractice from the KC front office with respect to their WR room...just...yikes.
Out: JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman (for half the year)
In: Rashee Rice, Richie James
James got hurt at the beginning of the season, which is a more significant injury than people realize, I think (57-569-4 in 2022). There was some thought that he could be a third-down outlet. Instead he ended up missing the first half of the season.
throw in the way that MVS was perfectly fine in the role that he was playing in 2022 and a perceived leap from Moore and Toney in their second years in the offense and there were all the ingredients for a better WR room in 2023 than 2022.
obviously, that hasn't happened for a multitude of reasons. Mahomes clearly doesn't trust Moore (who's now injured) for whatever reason, MVS has lost all his confidence (and PM hasn't looked his way when he has been open at times) and Toney counters every good play he makes with a mistake. Rice has gotten better every week and could develop into a No. 1 guy. so that's the bright spot.
it's absolutely fair to criticize the myriad things that have gone wrong and the lack of development that's happened over the course of the season. it's been comical at times. but to say now that the Chiefs clearly had a worse WR room than they did in 2022 with a group that included three top-60 picks from the last three drafts is revisionist history.

Weird - are you replying to a post that is not mine? I called it malpractice - I didn’t say it was better or worse than 2022 - but it is absurd to basically neglect that room in the way that KC did. Mahomes can only do so much. And relying on kadarius Toney on any level in a meaningful way as part of a plan was double nuts.

I don’t recall. Did Rob Ryan have a credible rape accusation in his past?

Re: NFL 2023 - Week 17 - Flacco revenge tour
Exactly.
They already declined his fifth-year option, which was for an estimated $23.3 million. If they keep him, they must extend him, because he otherwise enters next season with unrestricted free agency ahead of him, meaning he could leave with the Bears getting nothing. Any extension would come at a much higher cost for that fifth year (likely double that estimate, considering Daniel Jones signed for 4/$160 with $92 guaranteed), making the decision to turn down that option look remarkably stupid.
No matter how well he plays and how much the local media tries to write that there is still a decision to be made to generate clicks, it's over in Chicago for him. His top-end value probably starts at a late second-round pick.

it was malpractice in 2022?tennbengal wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 10:21 am Weird - are you replying to a post that is not mine? and isn't drafting a receiver in the second round in each of the past two seasons the opposite of neglect? the Moore pick clearly hasn't worked out so far, but what's happened hasn't been because of a lack of usage of draft resources.
basically, my point is there were the same questions ahead of 2022. they were answered. so they figured they could answer them again entering 2023 with a similar unit. and they clearly haven't.

Re: NFL 2023 - Week 17 - Flacco revenge tour
Oh, my fault. The Bears have until May to pick up the fifth-year option on Fields. They're still not going to do it, as drafting will push the cost of a quarterback contract extension down the road a few years.

Re: NFL 2023 - Week 17 - Flacco revenge tour
I think the point intended is not to say that the two missed calls were the same thing, but that if the first call was called correctly, the Cowboys would highly likely have gone up by two scores, without time for the Lions to have scored twice, rendering the player-reporting gaffe to have been a moot point.EnochRoot wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 9:22 pmThat’s not the same thing. I agree with your overall assessment but think so many teams are QB-needy that he could fetch a late first rounder or the trade value equivalent in multiple picks (ie two 2nds or a 2nd and 3rd, depending on where they are, etc)DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 1:23 pmExactly.

Add that up with their current draft picks and some decent building blocks in place and it’s a fairly enviable position to be in.

Denver hasn’t much to offer, but he’d be a better option than what they’ve got, at this point. Assuming Payton would want him.
