2023 NFL Wild Card Weekend

Post by Gunpowder »

Lol Steelers, yes I will take Buffalo -9.5 right now thank you very much.

As of right now, BRUTAL cold is projected for this weekend in KC. Like damn near Ice Bowl conditions.

I know I know Mahomes but the Chefs looked so bad against the Raiders on Christmas I was almost rooting for the Dolphins last night.

the early, early forecast has 25ish MPH winds in addition to the nasty temps, too

It looks like #30 for Miami is way the fuck offsides. Or we Kadarius Toney would say, perfectly fine.

Sounds crazy, but I honestly think the Steelers should go with Pickett. He had 1 game post-Canada and he looked really good. There's no way of knowing of course, but I'd at least call it a crapshoot. If that's the case, and you're not starting him and passing up a chance to evaluate him in a playoff game, you've basically resigned yourself to going in a different direction, and I'm guessing that direction is not Rudolph.

Sure he was much better in that game than he was with Canada but he was still staring guys down and falling backwards on throws and stuff. He's essentially Justin Fields without elite talent. Still more arm talent than Rudolph and I wouldn't decide now to move off of him for next season but I can't see making that change now. Plus he's shown enough in pressure situations that I don't have much concern about him melting down in playoff games.

He needs to work on this in the offseason or he'll never be viable. Otherwise he'll just run into another injury.

Picks?

Browns at Texans
I don't believe in Flacco. Texans.

Dolphins at Chiefs
Cold weather game in Arrowhead. Plus Mahomes. Chiefs.

Steelers at Bills
It feels like the Bills have recovered from the mid-season swoon. Bills.

Packers at Cowboys
Hard to imagine the Packers winning this unless the Cowboys to Cowboy things. Cowboys.

Rams at Lions
Stafford vs. Goff. I think the Rams are a sneaky good team. Rams.

Eagles at Buccaneers
Eagles are not firing on all cylinders, plus Hurts finger hurts. If this was in Philly I'd lean the other way but as it stands, Bucs.

I wouldn't know this as I have Peacock for free being an Xfinity (sigh) subscriber. Are they not simulcasting on over-the-air even in Kansas City and Miami. Because that's fucked up if not, albeit business as usual.

I believe they are simulcasting over the air in KC and Miami.

So, just a slight difference from all those NFL Network Thursday night games from years past when it was just an attempt to strong-arm cable companies and their customers regarding NFL Network's channel placement and subscriber levels. In this case, the "cable company" is on the side of the league, having already agreed to "channel placement".

Between the Steelers being 1-10 without TJ Watt and this:

I don't know if the wing thing is going to matter.

1. Do boneless wings not count as Buffalo wings?
2. Are all (bone-in) chicken wings automatically Buffalo wings?

If Bill Belichick is a classic Buffalo wing and Mike Vrabel is a BBQ wing and Bill O'Brien is a boneless wing...

I always thought nuggets were reconstituted ground chicken mush while boneless wings were chicken chopped into bite-sized pieces and fried.

I think that's right. In theory a menu could have boneless wings, chicken tenders and chicken nuggets as all three imply different things. They definitely should not be serving chicken tenders/nuggets as boneless wings

At what point does the NFL postpone games? The game in Buffalo looks unplayable on Sunday. I don't think they would want their product grounded in 70 mph winds.

Missed this, but mentally that seems backwards? Its the meat-est of the meats, versus like ground or processed stuff?
