Low. But, I can see a return to a more "classic" Raiders of the 1970's under him.
From a mindset perspective, not a win-loss record perspective.

That is a pretty stacked division coaching wise now. Two Super Bowl winning coaches, a college national champion and Super Bowl runner-up coach….and then Antonio Pierce.

Last move will be Bill Belichick to Miami, where Mike McDaniel gets put into his pocket as an OC in case of emergency.

I think this hire kind of sets the dominoes up pretty clearly. Belichick to Atlanta, Ben Johnson to Carolina and then Vrable or Dan Quinn to Seattle.

It looks like the Eagles are hiring Vic Fangio as their new DC, which seems like an upgrade as he’s (a) competent, (b) not a raging cock that grates players into outright mutiny, and (c) has zero rape indictments to my knowledge.

Re: Black Monday 2024
I think that’s a great hire. Wasn’t a real good head coach in Denver, but it was said that the defensive players loved him.

Re: Black Monday 2024
Looks like teams are hesitant to sign Belichick because of his age and level of control he'd want.
Schefter floated that if Andy Reid were to retire then Belichick would fit in KC.

Re: Black Monday 2024
I understand it. I would not want a 71-year-old coach coming in especially when his level of success has gone way downhill after losing his best player.

Re: Black Monday 2024
Slow news cycle nonsense has radio honks in Buffalo and Toronto floating the idea of Bellichick in Orchard Park. If that moron Ralph Wilson was still alive, I could see this happening. But please God no.

OMG, Tomlin hired Arthur Smith as OC? I fucking can't.

Ben Johnson staying in Detroit.

Re: Black Monday 2024
Arthur Smith’s issue in Atlanta was not getting plays to his stars in Bijan, London, and Pitts. But since the Steelers don’t have offensive stars, this won’t be an issue. 4D Chess!

I like it. He’s only 37 so I guess it’s smart to bet on yourself and wait for the right opportunity. Of course he has that luxury because he’s white.

Re: Black Monday 2024
Or did he not agree on what Washington is thinking with their QB approach and 2nd draft pick?
Re: Black Monday 2024
Happy that Houston's OC and QB coach stuck around as well.

Re: Black Monday 2024
It's weird now that the default setting on Washington trying to acquire talent is no longer: "Nah, you all can fuck off until you change management."
But I still wonder if it's a remaining, lingering factor.

Re: Black Monday 2024
Speaking of Washington, have the new ownership ever done anything yet so their turf in their stadium doesn’t play like the fields of Verdun? It’d be nice if guys don’t repeatedly suffer potential life-threatening injuries once a decade like poor Alex Smith.

Re: Black Monday 2024
Johnson was reportedly asking for $15M a year too which frankly is insane for a rookie head coach. I think Campbell “only” makes like $7M a year. Not sure if that was just an opening salvo and the spurned teams are now using it as an excuse why they couldn’t get a deal done or what.

At that time, had technology reached the point where they could attach a golf shirt collar to a v-neck sweatshirt or was he still in the stone age of wearing a golf shirt under the sweatshirt?

Young me *kinda* looks like Carroll in that pic. Though, I never was so bold as to go golf shirt under sweatshirt like that.

If he signed for that, you might see a bunch of older coaches holdout during training camp.brian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 12:10 pm Johnson was reportedly asking for $15M a year too which frankly is insane for a rookie head coach. Re: Black Monday 2024
I still don't understand why teams don't do this. Like why did no one offer Belichick $20MM+ ~15 years ago whenever his contract was up?

Re: Black Monday 2024
Funny, I kept reading the local media use the phrase "home run hire" for the hiring.

"As an offensive coordinator, he's a nice guy."
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Worked out when it happened to Belichick.
