And related to my post in the Eat Right thread... My wife goes to bed REALLY early on the nights we're not having wine and watching "our stories"... I'd love to fill that space with some quality movies!

I've fantasized about watching all of the Coen Bros movies before, so I'd be in! I've thought about similar director journeys (e.g. Scorsese), but I think the Coens might be the most fun. There are still a few of theirs that I've never seen.

A lot of what some people consider their “lesser” works (relatively because they’re incredible) are sneaky genius. Thinking especially of Burn After Reading, Hail Caesar and A Serious Man. For almost any other director those would be their best movie by far. I’ve seen Burn After Reading maybe 20 times and I still laugh nonstop.

I don't know what Argylle is (aside from being pretty sure its a movie, hence choosing this thread), but I can't not read it as "Arg-lee" because the Rangers have a kid named Will Cuylle whose last name is pronounced "Coo-Lee".

I watched Jackie Brown for the first time last night. Not sure why I never saw it before. As I knew it would be, it was great! I had no idea Robert De Niro was in it. And man, Sam Jackson was an absolute tour-de-force in this one. Honestly, it might be his best work. Not sure why didn't get an Oscar nomination for that.

When I flew into LAX a couple of months ago, I got to walk down the "Jackie Brown" corridor from the start of the movie.

And yes, its a great movie. Probably my favorite Tarantino.

I can see that. It's less "Tarantino" than his other movies. And since DiS hasn't seen a single Adam Sandler movie, I'm guessing he's not a fan of silliness.

I enjoy well-done silliness...for example, "Raising Arizona" is probably my favorite Coen brothers movie.

Tarantino has become pretty predictable...in that his movies now always end in a big fight scene with lots of fire (Once upon a time in Hollywood, Inglourious Basterds, Django).

Maybe Jackie Brown is a better story because it’s adapted from a pretty good book (Rum Punch by Elmore Leonard).

I’ve been beating this drum for 20 years but it seems to be becoming more mainstream but yes Jackie Brown is vastly superior to Pulp Fiction.

Watched The Zone of Interest today.

Like...Jesus Christ.

It's about the Commandant of Auschwitz who lives right next door and shows his boring, procedural life with his boring, procedural family while literal hell on Earth is going on on the other side of his backyard wall.

It has 5 very, very earned Oscar noms and I cannot watch this one again.

Saw The Blair Witch Project in the theater last night as part of a friend's "film club". I have always hated that movie because the only time I saw it was probably the worst movie-going experience of my life. We got there late so we were on the front row which is always awful, but even more so for a movie with a shaky cam the whole time. Then the guy next to me pulled a beer out of his pocket and when he opened it, it blew up over both of us. So front row, half-covered in beer and nauseous from the shaky cam. Good times. But I decided to go last night and I actually really enjoyed it! I was happy Heather died!
