Ah, the stations of my youth.

So I am guessing X103 doesn't have X-Fest anymore. I haven't listened to Bob and Tom forever, I had no clue that Bob retired. And the shows sucks so bad now days. Butler used to have a station, but I don't remember what it was. Way down on the dial. Played great music. Probably similar to the Carmel station now.

Wife has the rest of the presets. Above is roughly the order in which I most frequently listen.

Sirius XM
Ch 312 - Tom Petty's Buried Treasure. I play this at least 80% of the time I listen to radio.
Ch 21 - Little Steven's Underground Garage
Ch 70 - BB King's Bluesville
Ch 76 - Symphony Hall (One of the doctors I work with prefers classical music in the procedure room)

Internet Radio Streams
KNBR 680 AM San Francisco - "The Sports Leader" - 30 minutes before each Giants' game, Kruk and Kuip on Baseball, and the Post Game Wrap. And Warrior games.
WFMU 91.1 FM Newark NJ- Independent free-form radio. When their shit is too weird, their archives always have something cool, usually Bill Kelly's Teenage Wasteland. Bill's long standing Sunday show was the model for Steven Van Zant's Garage Radio format on Sirius, and Bill has a show there.

Bill Kelly and Tom Petty are the best radio DJs of the 21st Century, as far as my tastes. I cannot recommend their shows highly enough. Check them out.

WKCR 89.9 FM NYC - Columbia with a u University radio. Mostly Jazz, mostly Phil Schapp curated Jazz, another wonderful DJ/Music professor.

KCRW 89.9 FM Santa Monica, KEXP 90.3 U of W, KDVS 90.3 UCDavis and internet Radio Paradise, on occasion.

A few pandora channels, some spotify, but my radio listening has really narrowed as I ease into old age. The Swamp long ago replaced my interest in sports talk radio, Jim Rome and other wise.

I listen to

1. CPR (CO Public Radio) for their news station
2. KBCO Adult Alternative with a Boulder/CO vibe
3. KUNC (U of No Colorado station) World Cafe
4. KUVO Jazz (the oasis in the city)
5. some bullshit iHeart radio crap my wife listens to

I tried listening to sports radio when I first moved to CO. It's horrible.

Other wise I listen to Internet Archive (Dead shows) or some of my collection (SwampRadio)
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

I listen to:

FM
1-90.3 KEXP. The mighty! The one and only!
2-88.5 KPLU. NPR, and jazz/blues

AM
1-710 ESPN Radio. Seahawks games. M's games.
2-KJR-AM. Local sportsbabble. Don't listen to this much anymore.
3-1090 The Fan. Syndicated National sports babble. Don't listen to this much anymore either. They canned the one local show they had a few months back.
4-1000 KOMO. News ("Traffic on the 8's!"). UW football games.

And that's it. I do now get subjected by the horrific pop stations by my kids in the car now, but I reserve veto power over any song that I can't stomach (Bieber. They know my car is a Bieber-Free zone).

AM
WFAN, which has been on FM for 4 years, so never used
CBS, for Westwood One NFL broadcasts
1010 Wins for Traffic on the ones, which I only think to listen to while trapped in a 3 hour pileup.
1600 for Air America, but that went off the air...Jesus, 6 years ago??? I think it's a Spanish station or something
1130 Bloomberg, for when I want to fall asleep while driving
Maybe 770 or 710 left over from when I listened to RW talk radio

FM1
WFAN
ESPN
NPR
3 other stations to avoid dead air if I hit the wrong button

FM2
An unused frequency to play my ipod with one of them FM transmitters. Yep, my car is one year too old to have an iPod hookup, and one year to recent for a tape deck for the old cassette on a chord hookup
5 other channels to avoid accidental dead air

Radio sucks.

FM
88.5 - CBC radio 1. All talk, all Canadian
93.5 - CBC radio 2. Before 9 am and after 230 pm, its all cool music. In between 9-230 its all classical
97.7 - CHOM FM - The crappy standard rock station for my area. It is horrible...
106.7 - The Jewel. Convenient name, as this local radio station plays anything but the jewels of decades past. Plus I painted the DJ's house this summer.
107.9 - NPR- I listen to most of the shows on a podcast streamer but yeah, NPR is better than CBC.

AM
690 - TSN sports radio. This is my main channel, as I like to listen to different people talk about the same sports story over and over again, all day long.

so I'm weird for simply just going in order on the FM dial? Yeah, I have every station on preset, but there's no need to figure out which station is where

I got a new to me car and it’s a 2011 and lacks native SiriusXM support, and though it does have an Aux input I’m taking a shot at rediscovering the joys of terrestrial radio for the first time since 2015 or so.

There is a “throwback” hip hop station (that I think is actually broadcasting out of Newark, not NYC) and I flipped through just as Poison by Bell Biv DeVoe was starting and I’m pretty sure they edited out both instances of “ho” (or “hoes”). Song seemed otherwise identical to the version I was used to. Big butts!

That song was followed by Hey Ya, What’s Your Fantasy and Push It and those all sounded as expected.

Whatever was programmed when I bought the car in 2018, which is mostly static and a couple of stations. I had Sirius until I cancelled during the pandemic. I’ve searched for the Jets game once or twice since, other than that, never turned on the terrestrial radio.

I only listen to radio in the car. Had to axe Android auto and too much trouble with Bluetooth. Sub about 93 has the best stations round here. Mostly colleges. 3-4 different versions of old school hip hop r&b on these waves. I've grown tired and never listen but mostly cause the wife plays it more or less exclusively. Keep telling her it's not all classics.

Phish Radio
Dead Radio
70’s
80’s
90’s
Prime Country
No Shoes Radio
Classic Vinyl
classic Rewind
The Bridge

I audible to comedy channels when needed.

Wasn't there a station in Ohio that was similar to KEXP? That and WHFS back in the day were truly awesome.

I feel like KEXP is really the only good radio (music) stations left.
