They were on a thing I worked on last year. Supposed to perform for 30 minutes or so, showed up plastered, played four songs and left.

There are plenty of miserable Rangers fans but beating the Islanders is essentially beating Trump.

Penguins tie it up 2-2 on a 5-3 PP, then proceed to immediately give it back shorthanded on the 5-4 PP. Awesome.

Did you guys know about how good the Canucks are this year? I've honestly not heard a thing about this.

Isn’t he a Pittsburgh guy?

(The Canucks currently have a shooting percentage like an entire half point better than any other team in atleast 15 years (that’s how far back my stats go). Either they’ve figured something out that every team will copy or they’re about to “choke” in the playoffs by returning to normal teams level.)

I agree that they are in over their heads right now. But they do have a few studs - Quinn Hughes (brother of Jack and Luke) is great. Elias Peterson and Brock Boeser have offense, and Demko is a good puck stopper. But I don’t think they’ll advance past the first round.

Two games in a row giving up a SHG? Nice that as soon as the PP shows the slightest sign of life they have to make sure to shit the bed some other way.

Its pretty crazy there are rumors Pettersson wants out when they're leading the entire league (unless the rumors are out because they're leading the entire league).

That was their 8th of the season, which has got to be high. 2 feels high.

Montreal leads with 9, the entire league is between 4 and 9.

Why is Pittsburgh powerplay so bad? 29th in the league? Hasn't Karlsson helped?

Odds the alternate uniforms for the game will lean into the college rivalry and have Detroit in maize and blue with Columbus in scarlet and gray? I think the Wings could look really good with the blue as the primary color. I also don't know if anyone has enough of a opinion about any Blue Jacket uniform to say how it would look in tOSU colors.

This Rempe stuff makes me really uncomfortable. He’s huge but he’s not a heavyweight but you can tell he still thinks he has to go every night. Even acknowledging it’s 50/50 he ever comes back up, they need to send him down just so everyone (including whoever the toughest guy on the other team is supposed to be) can take a breath.

Yeah, I thought we were done with the days when teams had designated face-punchers with no other discernible skills.

Would he be anywhere close to the NHL based on his non-fighting skill set (I'm including his height here because he's not even close to being a skilled big guy, like fringe Red Wings prospect, the 6"8" Elmer Soderblom, who had eight points and eight PIM in 21 games last season)? I know ESPN did a 90-second interview with him the night he scored, but dude is averaging more penalty minutes per game than time on ice per game.

In a weird way, he’s probably even less of an NHL player 15 years ago than he is now. He’s huge, but he’s hardly an enforcer because he either has no clue how to defend himself or he gets so wired he forgets to during the fight. I don’t think he makes it through the gauntlet of face-punchers in the minors to get here in the era where every AHL team has two guys where that’s their only path. And he’s definitely not skilled enough; there’s several posts and videos clipped on rangers Twitter showing how even basic forechecks break down because he’s not quick enough and doesn’t have the hockey IQ to cover it up.

He’s an easy kid to root for (seems goofy, shocked to be there, dad died when he was just starting off his juniors career) but right now it’s just a bad situation. Last night I was back to “I can’t watch what might happen” when he was clearly gassed and Reaves wouldn’t call it. Should have happened before but there’s no excuse for Laviolette telling him he’s gone if he does fight in anything but an immediate response to an incident. He’ll be back down by the deadline, just hoping that’s soon enough before the next seasoned vet goes at him.

(And also he very easily could have gotten another major + game last night. He’s responsible, and not by fluke, for two head injuries in 5 or 6 games.)

Your team is a disaster that can’t stop losing trades on the spot, but I don’t think the condition in the Hanifin trade is that bad. It’s bad they took it without incentive, but without weird sports time value that doesn’t make sense, 2026 is probably going to be better than 2025??

The conditions are to appease Vegas and give them flexibility. We'll know the exact return without conditions in two months. If 2026 the pick is unprotected, Vegas could suck by then. Getting unprotected further out picks from good teams is better, especially when you are already loaded up for this draft.

As for the trades, it's difficult to deal all aging UFAs with no trade clauses. They should have been traded last year to get bigger returns. But Treliving left this team in a bad spot and it will take a while to start to go forward. But Conroy is doing what he said he would do in the rebuild. And I think he fleeced Vancouver on the Lindholm trade.

Sure but you also don't want the deal the fall apart because of it. The 3rd can turn into a 2nd and maybe having the 2026 pick unprotected was an incentive.

Calgary is more desperate. They need to trade the guy in two days. You notice more trades are happening earlier. No GM wants to get stuck with someone and get fired like Chuck Fletcher last year.

I think the conditions are fine. We get a first but you can choose to trade the 2025 one to get better now. If you do trade it away to get better then if you win a round, the 3rd turns into a 2nd and we get an unprotected pick in 2026 when hopefully you suck.

0% of me thinks Guentzel isn't a great player or that Carolina didn't just get a lot better, but kinda glad we're not on this. Prior deadline deals and Nemeth means we have I think four picks in the top three rounds of the next three drafts so that kind of trade effectively makes this THE SEASON. Which make it is or should be, but I like a longer window. And I want Buch back.

A week ago, I was getting used to the idea of the Red Wings returning to the playoffs. Now, they've lost their last three, including getting whacked last night by Colorado to start a four-game road trip with Larkin missing his first game of what is expected to be two weeks until he returns to health. Feels like they are now more likely to be a minor seller than anything else, especially since a little extra cap room will help with extensions for Seider and Raymond looming.

Obvious risk here for Carolina is that only 17 of Guentzel’s 219 career goals haven’t had a primary or secondary assist from Crosby.
