Wow. I feel comparatively dumber from reading that. Fucking lie-spreading shitheads.
The part when they’re denying germ theory and the body just needs to push out toxins. These dumbasses are promoting the four humours theory of medicine.
I feel really cheated. I used to think Rodgers was a bright inquisitive individual, like after he talked to Mark Kelly to work on his Hail Marys. Now I realized he’s just a kook. I hate it because I feel like I was conned.
ETA: and poor Olivia Munn. She is dealing with breast cancer and just had a double mastectomy, and yet the cancer wasn’t the worst thing that’s ever been inside her.

I wonder if he was always a kook, or if this is a CTE or brain injury issue. Either that, or his media coverage for the vax shit and having a year off with an injury opened the door to him spouting off about his beliefs.L-Jam3 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 8:48 am Wow. It’s not like he has anything else to play for. He made bank, won a ring, and is going to go down as the best pass rushing DT in history.

On the other hand, it could have been much, much worse. Hers is a success story (to this point).

Justin Fields must be stoked to have two WR1's to throw to next season.

obviously it was clear that Pittsburgh didn't have faith in Pickett once it signed Russ, but I now wonder what the best case situation is for the Steelers' long-term future at quarterback is in 2024

Not hard to move on from the WR with a significant injury history who will be 32 next season. Re: NFL 2024 Offseason
Yes.
The Bears traded him for a 2025 6th-rounder that can become a 4th-rounder based on playing time.
It’s really fucking smart by Pittsburgh. They get to decline his 5th-year option, then work with him while he's on their bench for a season while starting Wilson. This will lower Fields' value while he's on their bench, while they re-sign him to a suppressed cost contract, if they think he is good enough to start in 2025. And if they don't, it's a flashing sign to the league about how good Fields is.
Seems like essentially sentencing him to backup quarterback status and contracts for the rest of his NFL career, or at least doing so during his peak playing years, is a strange way of doing that.Bears GM Ryan Poles, on February 27 wrote:We want to do right by Justin.

Yeah, I can't see any downside to this at all. They're paying these to like 3.5 million combined?

For a 6th the Bears would have been better off keeping him as insurance in case Williams gets injured.

Playing behind the husk of Russell Wilson seems like one of the better landing spots.
Fields probably will never do anything great because his biggest flaw seems to be a fatal flaw in that he's just not quick enough to pull the trigger, but he's an actual upside bet with talent that the Steelers are almost never able to find drafting in the 20s every year. It makes sense. Russ is an old dog who refuses to do the tricks he did in his first few years while also being the corniest human alive.

However, ESPN's Courtney Cronin (Bears beat reporter) noted "a source told ESPN that five teams in addition to Pittsburgh reached out to Chicago, and the majority of those teams had envisioned the former first-round pick in a backup role." That means they talked to at least one team who wanted him as a starter. Hard to believe that sitting on him helped Fields when he could have traded someplace to be a starter the season and it's also hard to believe they would not have gotten better compensation from a team acquiring him to start.
I don't think he's a longterm NFL starter, either, but getting a starting spot would be better for him than essentially being sentenced to backup duty for the rest of his career. His upside with Pittsburgh after this season if Wilson stays healthy is a multi-year deal with only one or two guaranteed years for modest money and significant incentives. Otherwise, it's the wheel of backup spots for him.

Re: NFL 2024 Offseason
How many realistic starting spots were there? Assuming Vegas (the Getsy thing?) and Minnesota were out (just how teams usually seem to operate), it's New England and Denver. There's probably not a chance Sean Payton wants to go back to a Russell Wilson type of QB, so that leaves one option, a team that has a seemingly overwhelming desire to "win" every transaction.

Pretty sure no way Chicago trades Fields to a division rival either.

Re: NFL 2024 Offseason
And you know New England is making the wise choice about QB because they dumped that moron Belichick (the one who had to be convinced to draft Jones instead of taking Mills later and then told he couldn't trade Jones last year rather than going with Mayfield or drafting Will Levis). Luckily all the other people involved in those decisions are still there and we can trust Wolf Jr. to be a good GM because he had a lesser job with Green Bay who did a great job drafting, and as the Red Sox learned with Chaim Bloom, taking an assistant from a successful front office always works.

Re: NFL 2024 Offseason
Prior to the combine, Atlanta and Pittsburgh were the two teams most frequently connected to Fields (I never bought the Raiders because the offense with Getsy stunk). Wilson had not been released by that point and many expected Minnesota to bring back Cousins and Tampa to bring back Mayfield (although I agree with Brian that they weren't going to trade him in the division). At that point in time, both the Falcons and Steelers could reasonably have expected to bring Fields in as the starter.
A week after Poles said he wanted to do right by him right before the combine started, Wilson was on the market for the league minimum without requiring sending out any assets, significantly changing even that limited market. Once Wilson signed, it was Atlanta. And, they convinced Cousins to come aboard.

I have a feeling that in five years or so, we will look back on this thread and think that we spent an awful lot of time discussing a guy who won 20 games in his career.

Re: NFL 2024 Offseason
Ten. Ian Rapoport tweeted Fields wanted to go to Pittsburgh, even after they signed Wilson. I imagine the mutual interest was not acted upon before Wilson came on the market because the Bears were asking for too much. I also imagine Pittsburgh would have still signed Wilson after trading for Fields, as the events that have transpired suggest they could have by making him the starter after a Fields trade.
My vitriol and number of posts for the Bears' front office has no limit.
