I don't know if this counts as formal irony, but damn, it's funny ...

1. Person claims to be a billionaire.

2. Person accused in court of lying about his assets.

3. Person denies, is found liable.

4. Person unable to come up with less than half a billion to secure his judgment.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Can't his Capo son-in-law pony up some of the Saudi money he's been collecting?

The Saudis turning him down because they think he's too toxic and a bad investment would be everything.

About the only way I can imagine intentionally watching Trump on television is if the Saudis threw a massive soccer contract at him as a humiliating bailout.

I remember four years ago watching him give his "Covid is no big deal" speech just as the world was shutting down (NBA being cancelled, Tom Hanks announcing he'd tested postive), and when it was over I thought "we are truly fucked"...

If you really want your blood to boil, there’s a BlueSky account I follow called “Four Years Ago Today”* details TFG’s response as every day happens. Just infuriating.

It’s just a total coincidence that Trump just flip flopped on his attacks against TikTok and that the guy behind the shell company is a big TokTok investor.

The reason he has to go to the Saudis and the Russians for financing is that every bank in America knows he's a shitty businessman, and doing business with him is just setting money on fire. I'd really be curious who would want his shares as collateral when they're in reality worth less than Monopoly money.

I am skeptical that IPO is going to go as well as they are saying. I just have to think that going public with the knowledge that someone is immediately going to try to liquidate 1/6th (not intended as irony!) would absolutely tank prices. I suppose that calculus changes if the stock can be used as the collateral which I think it can, but I still think it's an ambitious number.

Soros should gamestop it.

EDIT; Fuck I didn't realize it was an SPAC.

Yes, and...

It's not just that he's a terrible businessperson. The whole point of this NY AG thing is that he is, literally, a fraud. A bunch of these big banks are publicly traded and have shareholders to answer to... Not to mention people sitting on Boards that are not going to put up with, as you say, burning hundreds of millions in a barrel fire.

This is honestly a pretty reasonable ruling. $175M isn’t nothing and he’s still on the hook for the total amount if the appeal fails. Trump having to sell property and looking like a martyr doesn’t help anyone.

Agree. FWIW, I don’t think it’s that unusual to have a reduced bond when the judgment amount is so crazy high.

While it's nice to see the cultists fleeced by their savior, the downside is Trump and his cronies are the ones who are going to walk away with Billions.

I get that. But he’s a rich white guy in America. Him walking away scot-free is what’s expected. In fact, having anything stick to him is the exception and not the rule (because he’s a fucking moron). He was just going to the same thing he’s done for the last 40 years. Seeing his supporters get ruined might finally teach them a lesson.

I’m just looking for victories where I can get them.

From what I heard on Pod Save, he can't sell for 30 days unless approved by the Board, which is comprised of his kids and Linda McMahon, and they can approve an earlier sale. I'm sure they will do the right thing and hold him accountable...
