I’m pretty excited for today. Checking out the R&R HoF at 10:30, then hanging out by the lakefront for the show, then come back and catch the ‘Dians home opener at 5. Looks like there’s some cloud cover but still I got good vibes.

Our house is now allegedly outside of the area of totality (original projections had us getting around one minute, 15 seconds). 67% sky cover projected at that time, anyway.

The big news is that I hear the Big Guy is going to Rapture all the evangelicals away during the eclipse. Imagine how great it will be after they leave!

99.6 percent is not enough for my son and I, so we are off to some village between Hamilton and Niagara Falls. Figure we'll avoid the big crowds and get 3 minutes of totality.

My sister texted a meme this morning about filling 100s of fuck dolls with helium and releasing them during the eclipse to freak out the Christians. Now she just texted that she is eating lunch with coworkers who actually believe in the Rapture.

Mostly sunny here in MD, but there was a bank of clouds that rolled in right as things started. Just cleared up and it's probably 10 percent into what it's going to do. I think we're right around 90 percent covered. Gonna head back out to see how things are progressing in a bit.

I was just coming here to ask if there I’m wrong to not care about this. Scheduled a call for 2:00. People keep posting where you can get free glasses, and I have little interest. The last one I was working from home. Went outside and two neighbors were out, one had glasses. Passed it around, and we were all like “ I guess that’s it?”
Everybody at work suddenly got giddy to go outside just now and several people brought glasses.

It was a decent 'fresh air' break on my way to lunch. But I was in the middle of calls and completely forgot.

The hue of outside even with the 70% here in southern AZ is kinda cool though. Might make for some great picture taking.

Yeah, I mean, I'm not sitting in my yard staring at the sky for an hour. I got shit to do, man. I'm just popping out there every 10 minutes or so to check progress.

It’s getting eerily dark. Stepped outside and sun is behind a cloud. Still, the dark is weird.

Cloudless day here in northern Indiana. Outside looked like I was wearing sunglasses that weren't super dark, but enough to block out the glare. Temperature seemed to drop about 5 degrees and the wind picked up a bit. Other than that, typical April Monday afternoon.

Very cool... A little bit of cloud cover but it cleared out enough throughout that we got good views. And, yeah, weird feeling the temp drop and the wind pick up.

Our dog and the one we are petsitting are both kind of freaked out.

That was fucking amazing. Stayed clear enough here in Cleveland to see the whole thing. I’ve always been an astronomy nerd, and I never thought I’d ever see a total eclipse. But to finally see it - the whole solar corona, the diamond ring - was even better than I expected. Kinda feel like I achieved a life goal this afternoon.

Holy shit. That was utterly amazing. There was a huge crowd in a circle in front of the Rock & Roll HoF. Perfect soundtrack too. Dark Side of the Moon right before, No Sunshine during, and Here Comes the Sun as it broke.

We know what’s going on and we were stunned; imagine what it was like in ancient times. Probably a big baby boom 9 months to the day after, though.

Sabo, I’m heading to the Jake this evening if you’re around.

Thanks for the invite!

Took us 2 1/2 hours to drive the 50 miles from Toronto to Grimsby, and 3 hours to get home, but it was completely worth it for the 3 minutes of totality. The clouds cleared in that area when the sun was 80 percent covered.

Honest to God, the full eclipse is one fo the greatest things I have ever seen. Even though I was told every thing to expect, it was still awe-inspiring.

Thanks (and thanks rass). That's a "real" camera, I took probably 50+ shots fiddling with various settings and that was the one that came out best. The darkness is kind of exaggerated there; it was more like an early-evening level of light.

Went out on the beach to watch it. We got to about 75% here. It was a mostly cloudless sky, and honestly, if you didn't know it was an eclipse, you probably wouldn't have been able to tell without the special glasses. It was a bit darker than a full sun day, but not obviously so.

We didn't prepare, so no glasses, but fortunately a couple on the beach had an extra pair. It was super cool with the glasses. I couldn't get any pictures to work though.

this is exactly how i've felt for the last ~7 hours. Even with clouds - we had breakthrough at totality and I can't possibly put it all into words. A life memory.

My dog starting doing full speed zoomies in the yard at the moment of totality - it was awesome.
