Another ump you might think he’s being an earn-your-stripes-kid dickhead just daring a rookie to say something but Angel is pretty consistently this shit. Hard to say which is worse.

Angel Hernandez is worse than some BS early-season hazing of MLB rookies.

can't wait and we are past ready for the ball/strike challenges. this is so fucked up.

i was watching a minor league game yesterday for the first time and the system seems great - I'd not yet seen how it works: pitcher didn't like the call, taps his head immediately, they go to the tennis-like-recreation/replay...bang. call changed - that quickly. The nice caveat is that the pitcher/batter has to make the challenge immediately and by themselves - a batter quickly looked into his dugout then challenged but that was waved off.

I saw this at a game last year. There were only a handful of challenges, but every one succeeded.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Not sure if that one addresses it, but he's 85 and made a go of it but was exhausted after the first couple of (road) series. I think he had stepped back a bit the last couple of seasons as it is/was.

Watching a game last week, I learned that Aaron Boone is the best in the league at getting himself thrown out of games to sacrifice his players getting thrown out of the game, and I suppose it's useful but I just feel like there are more proactive ways to manage that.

It appears he's ok.

Seems dumb for a 4-12 team to be using a pitcher to pinch run in April. Those are playoff decisions.

Is the catcher Diaz that much slower?

Yes and no? He's definitely good about getting out there quick, but sometimes its just because he's mad and not trying to save a guy. And also the Yankees are statistically fucked a decent amount more than expected at the plate, especially Judge. I can't remember the exact stat, but gets low pitches called strikes so much that you could take all the excess ones between him and whoever is in 2nd place and those would rank like 3rd or 4th.

So Soto just casually strutting out of the box to admire his work every time he hits a ball hard is an annoying thing. How much am I paying this guy again?

And that, combined with his age would give you all the ammo necessary to trade him before he got to the contract.

Or, sign him to an extension once he hit 50+ HR as a 25 year old.

I'm legit serious when I say (I've said it for a few years) signing Judge to that contract was a massive error.

They'd have to convince Stanton to waive his NTC to get traded, but Soto is definitely a guy you would sign longterm.

Whoa, possible that Cashman reads the board??? Yankees claim Taylor Trammell, could be a precursor to one or both of the moves above.

(Trammell is super interesting. Former top ~20 prospect who hasn't hit enough in the majors but with very intriguing slash lines ...
2021: .160/.256/.359
2022: .196/.284/.402
2023: .130/.286/.326
Each year there's 88+ points OBP over AVG and 196+ points SLG over AVG which means he's essentially doing everything right except the whole "stop making so many outs" deal and that's entirely due to strikeouts. So certainly possible/probable he's just a quad-A guy who can't consistently hit good pitchers but maybe there's some little tweak that unlocks an actual really good player. Hopefully he'll get some time in Scranton but not sure if he passes through waivers without another curious team jumping in.)

Yet another Trevor Bauer accuser is not only proven to be full of shit, but just got indicted for fraud.

I am, by no means, a Barstool bro, but there's something pretty wild where these women were just believed when the details were extremely easy to suss out.

Apparently Boone had been carping, and Wendelstedt had just said "say anything else and you're gone."

So a little more understandable. Maybe.

This rivals Clyde Drexler's ejection in the 1995 playoffs against Phoenix as one of the worst ejections of all-time. Camera is literally on him as his mouth is closed and looking at his fingernails.

That is classic Rabbit Ears from an ump. That's unbelievable. You have no idea who said it, and you have no power as an umpire to put a gag order on the entire bench. (I know it wasn't the bench, but even playing it that dude thought it was the bench... so fucking what?)
