Obviously it looked dumb from the start, but I wonder if this was the end product the whole time or if he realized halfway through that he could pivot to a dangerous piece of shit and still sell enough to the fanboys that had started to gather.

I had to drop my Model Y at the Tesla service center this weekend (the battery suddenly stopped charging). The first vehicle I saw in their shop being worked on was a Cyber Truck. Thing couldn't have been on the road for long before that.

It is such a piece of shit truck. As it moves it clinks and clanks like there's loose parts or gears. The exterior looks bad too, even before you get to how dumb the geometry of it is. The steel coating looks rusted and picks up fingerprints. Sounds like it's unreliable as hell too.

Well, I bought mine used and I try not to think about Elon too much when I drive it. There were lots of lots good engineers who really deserve the credit that everyone loves to give him. And for the most part, he built those things before he took that crazy right-turn a few years ago.

My buddy has one and we drove out to the eastern shore a few months ago and that's the first time I've been in one.

I can't stand Musk and I would still consider buying one.

The one I really want to buy is a Rivian.

My buddy is getting a Rivian. He spent about 30 minutes giddily describing it to me on our way to Louisiana last month that I can't wait to see it.

A coworker's former roommate who lives in CA now has a rivian and absolutely loves it.

Several Rivians and a Polestar in our neighborhood. We are going to get an electric SUV this year, but those Rivians are pricey! Looking more likely we get a Hyundai Ionic 5 or a Kia. Nice looking, highly rated, less expensive electrics.

I'm not proud of being a driving billboard for Elon, but it really is a nice driving and ownership experience.

I was all set to get either the Ionic or the Kia until I looked into the charging situation. If you're only going to drive local and charge at home, it's a non-issue. If you want to take trips, at this point, only Tesla has the infrastructure to support it. Of course, that may be different in California. It'll be better in a couple of years after everyone switches to the connector that Tesla uses. The charging industry can't afford multiple standards. Just settle on one and let it grow.

There are a bunch of them in town. They look cool, so I looked them up... they have some unbelievable features, especially if you go camping. Tons of gadgets built in, including a tent that goes over the bed of the pickup, lots of outlets and charging stations built into doors, even a slide out cooking station with a sink.

"That's four Lipas!!!" is something I would have wrote back when I thought Dua Lipa was a stage name and assumed, since I didn't take spanish in HS, that "Dua" probably meant "two".
