Is anyone else here a fan of the Zagnut? My favourite candy bar. Though I do like the Reeses Take 5 or a 100 Grand in a pinch (Zagnuts are hard to find in these parts.)
I don’t think I’ve ever had a Zagnut. Now I need to find one.

Yes. Baby Ruth and Snickers are great, but nothing beats a great toffee bar.

My wife went to her super-Christian brother's wedding outside Hersey PA a few years ago. She brought back a case. I didn't have to listen to his bullshit and got candy? Win! WIn!

(also Heath bars are excellent)

My sister ships me Rocca bars for christmas or just randomly. I guess it's a Pac NW thing? Anyway, their dark chocolate w/toffee are amazing.

Can’t be “real” people so some kind of bots that don’t self-identify (like Google) probably.

A good discussion would be how to up your condiment game.

I''m going to be making a tomato jam this weekend, where I will be adding real maple syrup instead of sugar.

One thing I like about watching English soccer is that if the game is scheduled to start at 5:00, it starts at 5:00. Sports in the US (and Canada) never actually start at the advertised time. I was again reminded of this watching the NFL draft. Advertised to start at 5:00 PDT, the first pick went down 20 minutes later. I realize that this is not a big deal or anything, in the big picture, but still…

So, the wife had a frustrating hard day and wanted Chinese takeout for dinner. We order and I go pick it up (a big deal as I rarely drive, being blind in one eye and having a bum shoulder). After I return, she opens up the boxes of food. I start loading my plate but I see she is upset, saying “One of our entrees is missing - they gave us an extra rice, so the total box count is right but the entree I especially wanted is missing.” Her hard day is getting worse. I check the receipt and it is in order, so I phone the restaurant and tell them what happened. The guy apologizes and encourages me to come down and get a replacement entree. So, I do. Not happy, but what are you going to do? Mistakes get made. So, pick up the entree, mumble a thanks as he apologizes, and drive home. So, I load up my plate with the hot new stuff. The first rice box is getting low, so I open the other one… but it’s not rice, it’s the entree my wife said was missing! So, now we have two of them. I switch from silently cursing the restaurant to “oh, shit!” My wife is as honest as can be, and she is mortified. She says she is going to the restaurant as soon as they open tomorrow to apologize and pay for the additional entree they gave us. Sheesh.

We don’t eat a lot of mustard. When we do, it’s always Dijon or German. But, my wife was cleaning the fridge and dragged out some old French’s yellow mustard from the back that we bought for a kids’ party years ago. Turns out it expired in 2013. Guess we’ll throw it out.

No no... you are spot on here. It's very annoying. US Soccer will list a start time of 7p but that's when coverage starts. And it can be anywhere from 60 minutes to 15 minutes away from actual kickoff.

I’ll grant those are both ridiculous but is there a reason you can’t deposit it in your bank. Most will accept checks deposited in the ATM these days and most of those will let you access the money (up to your daily ATM limit) right away

Not as easy to conceal that way.

(Even easier is to deposit with your bank's phone app.)

True I guess I was assuming that wasn’t an option for some reason though I guess the at-bank option might not also apply in that case.

You can cash a check against your account and it won't show up on your transactions.

Seems like you just walk in with the check to a branch of your bank and then they give you the cash instead of putting it in the account and then withdrawing. Though as a lot of banks go to the remote teller stuff, it may indeed be much more difficult to do this.

That's about it. As long as you have enough in your account to cover the check, there's no need for a transaction on record. I do it all the time. Sometimes, my wife even knows I do it.

Yep, this is how I did it before apps. My bank would ask to see my ATM card to show I had an account, but they wouldn't look up the account or swipe the card. No deposit slips, either. Just straight money laundering.

Back in my day, you could go to the bank who held the account and cash their check even without personally having an account there. They don't let you do that anymore.

This is a pretty sweet option.

Changing the subject for a second… bear with me… I go to physical therapy pretty regularly for my shoulder, and even though I’ve hit my annual limit already for co-pays and deductibles (surgery and post-ops will do that), they always ask for this money at the reception desk. Frustrating, but I’ve gotten tired of arguing with them, so I just pay the money every time. Then I receive a check in the mail to offset it.

So I regularly have checks to deposit.
