Morgan Spurlock, a documentary filmmaker best known for the Oscar-nominated 2004 film “Super Size Me,” which followed him as he ate nothing but McDonald’s for 30 days, died on Thursday. He was 53.
In “Super Size Me,” Mr. Spurlock tested the broadly held idea that fast food is unhealthy by gorging on McDonald’s Super Size meals, hamburgers, fries, soda and more for weeks, as he steadily gained weight. The film, which grossed more than $22 million on a $65,000 budget, contributed to a sweeping backlash against the fast food industry.

Re: Worthy of mention, too obscure for own thread
I had just read a Reddit post last week about that was titled something along the lines of "what was passed off as fact but was completely bullshit?" And Super Size Me was a response in the comments.
Apparently, his massive alcohol problem wasn't disclosed when he was doing his 'research.'
I distinctly remember a Swamp post from Hood calling him on his bullshit about it too.
Edit:
I misremembered. I thought it was an Ask Reddit post, but it was a Skeptic post.

Yeah, was just reminded recently about the alcohol problem he had during the filming of SSM.

Is someone reporting that? That seemed most likely but I hadn’t seen it confirmed. So very tragic.

And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

William Anders, Apollo 8 astronaut, who took one of the most iconic images in human history (Earthrise over the moon from that journey) died in a plane crash at age 90.
Fucking baller man. Dying in a plane crash sucks to be sure but when you do it at age 90 that’s icon level. Everyone else is trying to take grandpa’s Caddy keys at 80 and this guy is crashing planes.

This will not mean anything to anyone but me, but it's hitting me hard.
