Might as well get this party started. Looks like Detroit at Houston and KC at Baltimore in the ALWC.

I’m pretty confident the city of Detroit and city of Houston have never faced off in a playoff series/game in any sport.

Until about a dozen years ago they were never in the same conference. Unless the Pistons were in the western conference in the 70s.

And this is the playoff thread, but the Nats were about 8 feet short of ending their season with a down-three, walk-off grand slam. My reaction at the hit freaked my cats out.

So Braves and Mets just need to win one of the two games against each other tomorrow and both are in. D-Backs need someone to sweep.

Does the team that wins game 1 have a champagne celebration in the 30 minutes between games? Does the losing team send extra champagne?

I’m don’t remember the Cavs playing the Sixers in the playoffs, so a Guardians-Philly World Series would be a new city matchup.

Nope. It's worse actually. 5th seed goes to San Diego.
ATL is the 5th seed if it wins one, Mets are the 5th seed if they wins two.

The only thing I can see is the Braves and Mets hate each other and want to knock each other out. Or some reserves in 2nd game are playing to get onto the playoff roster.

i'm blacked out of this game, been running a sketchy stream all game and right as Nimmo hit the HR.... it's gone south and I can't get in. I would love to just use my MLB subscription on my Roku tvs this month rather than get on the computer for fks sake....

I don't want to say he quit out there but ... the mental mistake not covering is obviously bad but it happens a lot every year. To just stand on the mound on the bases-clearing double is insane. Simply move somewhere, behind home or behind 3B, just in case.

I can't believe they sent him back out and I can't believe he put that first pitch exactly where he had to. Olson was looking to ambush and like an inch less inside and he does it. Crazy game.

I'm gonna go ahead and strongly disagree. If Atlanta knew Sale wasn't a go, you hold back Schwellenbach for G2 knowing either you stole the first game and saved him or you've got the clear best pitcher going against the team that now doesn't care.

Fair. I didn't know if Sale was scratched prior to G1. If that was the case, then yes, your layout makes the most sense. I was only going with they had him ready to go if they needed them, but now are hoping they can get through without him.

That's a decent lineup the Mets put out, not too different than if it were a double header in June, they want to sweep

Guessing they’re gonna get everyone one AB and then start PH/replacing anyone they can. They probably only have about 5 bench replacements so couldn’t really mess with lineup too much.

You can't replace a pitcher with a position player, so what happens when no pitcher goes to the mound? That's just like not taking the field right?

They were actually in the same conference in the NBA until the 80-81 season.

I don't know if the Mets have any low leverage relievers who could use the work, but if not you just have Lucchesi wear it until the Braves hit 8-0 then make the switch. The rule is there but its pretty easy to get around.
