Learn Something Random Every Day Thoughts

Post by Scottie »

(Plus I also set the "threads per page view" to 40 and I want to see what happens when we get to a second page of threads)

Anyway . . . I always believed that the reason Toronto's SkyDome (now Rogers Center) used artificial turf was simply because it is a multi-purpose facility. According to the article (linked below) it is also because there is not enough natural light getting into the dome to maintain grass as the surface. I'm a bit skeptical about that but this was mildly interesting:

Just yesterday I learned of a sea slug that discards its own penis after intercourse and then grows a new one the next day. True story.

I guess that's one way to combat STI's.

That must be the same cellular barrier that prevents pregnancy during legitimate rape. Vaginas are amazing!

i had no idea there had never been a jesuit pope, until yesterday. seeing how prominent the order is in the united states. especially in high school sports in sacramento and san francisco when i was a youngster. oh, and in higher education across america.

I got random muthaphukkin thoughts, and I learned some new muthaphukkin things. I'm not posting in the same muthaphukkin thread.

The freeper thread on Rob Portman's reversal on gay marriage is hilarious. I won't link, but you know where to find it if so interested.

This deal of “coming out” that has become so popular with these kids in the past few years is, I think, suspect. In this area, at one of the high schools, the kids suddenly started “coming out” in droves, embracing and kissing in the hallways, having “sex” in the bathroom stalls (how romantic!) I expect some kids are in the future going to be embarrassed at their recent behavior; because even logical statistical numbers would have precluded there being that huge a number of “gay” kids in any one given place at one time. A fad.
I'm sure.

Wasn't there a Senator from Oklahoma or thereabouts complaining a few years ago about rampant lesbianism in schools?
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Does anyone else find the thing with shaving one's head as a sign of solidarity with a cancer patient to be completely self-serving?

I'm thinking it doesn't matter whether you or I find it self-serving. I think it's up to the cancer patient.

If I ever do get cancer, I hope its one where I don't need chemo and I can keep a straight face until after all my friends have shaved their heads. That would be a lot of fun.

I had my head shaved BEFORE my mom started losing her hair, so it looked like she was showing solidarity with people who don't like having to go get haircuts.

Nope. Especially when women do this. But I think you'd have to know the people involved pretty well to figure out their motivation, so I've got a small number of cases to go on.
