NCAA Football Offseason
I tried like heckfire to find a thread to no avail.
Sources say Petrino is headed back to Louisville.

Speculation on twitter that Kiffin might join Saban at Alabama.

Penn State actually managed to upgrade their coaching position by hiring Franklin. Good move.

It's been an interesting few days. I'm just hoping that he stays for a while. He doesn't have a great track record in that regard.brian wrote:Penn State actually managed to upgrade their coaching position by hiring Franklin. Good move.
There were also some initial rulings in the Paterno v. NCAA case yesterday. It looks like some of it will move on to the discovery phase. I don't care too much what the actual decisions are, but I look forward to the depositions for members of the NCAA and PSU.

Dorial Green-Beckham, who was a top recruit (possibly #1 in the nation) and was booted from Missouri earlier this year, has enrolled at Oklahoma. The Sooners are petitioning the NCAA to get him eligible this year.
(His dismissal had been mentioned previously, but I think those posts went away in the recent Swamp hiccup.)

Re: NCAA Football Offseason
I see no scenario in which the NCAA will give him a waiver. But this is the NCAA, so who the hell knows. My guess is that the case is based off wrongful dismissal without conviction, though Missouri could simply say that he was dismissed for a violation of team rules. That's obviously a very common occurrence and I can't think of any scenarios where a player has been dismissed for disciplinary reasons and gone on to join a team without sitting out a year.DSafetyGuy wrote:Dorial Green-Beckham, who was a top recruit (possibly #1 in the nation) and was booted from Missouri earlier this year, has enrolled at Oklahoma. (A good example would be now-Louisville's Josh Harvey-Clemons. Suspended for failing drug tests at Georgia and subsequently dismissed. He's sitting out 2014.)

If he's given a waiver the NCAA has a lot of explaining to do.

Boise State is the only FBS school with a colored turf field no longer. Eastern Michigan unveiled "The Factory" yesterday.
(Skip the time-lapse video unless that kind of thing is your bag and skip right to the Instagram photos. Stupid name, but the turf looks pretty sharp actually.)

I guess I'm becoming a bit more of a soccer guy. Forgetting what thread I was reading, and not paying enough attention to the spelling, my quick gut reaction was that it was a Liverpool supporter's shirt referring to Blackburn.

Seeing some ominous tweets about this Notre Dame thing -- like up to 22 current and former players might be involved and they might have to vacate the last four years worth of wins.

Bobby Bowden AMA...pretty good stuff
This wasn't from bobby, but it was pretty good!
"So back in the 90s a kid signed with Florida State and to show his appreciation he immediately went to a tattoo parlor and got a tattoo of Bobby Bowden's head on his right butt cheek.
Well, academically he just couldn't keep up and he was cut from the team. So, he looked to transfer and sure enough he was able to sign with Auburn. Shortly after one night he had a few too many beers and went to a tattoo parlor, again, and got a tattoo of Terry Bowden's face put on his left butt cheek as a way to honor Terry Bowden for giving him a second chance.
After a decently successful career he graduated with a degree in engineering and was able to land a job offer from a good company in Birmingham. During his pre-employment physical the doctor noticed the tattoos on his buttcheeks from underneath the hospital gown and asked if he could have a closer look. "Sure," said the player, lifting up the gown a foot or so to provide a better view.
The doctor took a look and said, "Now, I recognize ole Steve Spurrier there in the middle. But who are those guys on either side?"

Re: NCAA Football Offseason
Excellent list and good point. Arkansas. Man. Brandon Allen (not Wilson) is Arkansas quarterback. As bad as he is, his backup, AJ Derby is not good. He is basically a TE that played QB in high school. Does not really qualify as "back up." The razorbacks were not good with Brandon, but were even worse without him. That's why they couldn't win an SEC game last year.
This year will be another year of transition for Hogs. They have three QBs on their depth chart that are all better than Brandon Allen. His brother, Austin Allen; red shirt freshman, Damon Mitchell; and true freshman, Rafe Peavey should each be better than Allen.

Whatever the story turns out to be, it seems like there's no way he actually saved his nephew. What's funny is that the first article I read about it had quotes from Shaw saying things like it didn't have to be his nephew, he would have saved any kid.
And now I'm reading about what a great guy Shaw supposedly is. He was recently voted captain of the team.

Re: NCAA Football Offseason
I guess I get why they print schedules way in advance, but why pick a QB who had a very good chance of not being the starter? By the time spring practice was over, he had already unofficially been bumped to #2, which is why he transferred. That far before the season, with transfer season still to come, you have to go with a generic, non-player photo for that cover.wlu_lax6 wrote:That is unlucky timing
