Who the camera stayed on seemingly for the entire game.

This Seminoles team is both really good and really lucky. That ending was crazy. And maybe Dabo Swinney (nice name) should take some heat for the ridiculous 4th and 1 play in overtime.

Yeah, I agreed with the decision to go for it, but hated the play call. Because they lined up in shotgun, the RB took the handoff at least 4 or 5 yards deep in the backfield. Why not run a QB sneak there? Even though Tom Brady is hardly an athletic marvel, it seems like the Patriots convert those short yardage plays every time by just going with the sneak.

It amazes me that these huge college programs like Clemson and especially Alabama never seem to have a good kicker.

Shit, there's NFL teams I could name who don't have a good kicker. Can't understand how there isn't at least 32 people on this planet who can consistently make a 50-yard field goal.

Never ever ever EVER trust a college kicker. They should go for so many more 4th downs.

I'm the opposite. It amazes me that there are almost 32 people who can consistently do that. It blows my mind that a 40 yard field goal, with all its moving parts and difficulties, is basically automatic at the NFL level.

I do wonder why the Steelers can't find one of 32 people on the planet who can punt further than 45 yards, though.

Some NFL team that doesn't really need a good QB is going to get one when Jameis goes in the 20s.

College kickers can't even make 35 yarders consistantly.

Top 40 college kickers were 84% from 30-39 last year.

NFL kickers were 90%

Why do you want to make me do math?

It's 75%. And by top 40 and second 40, it was sorted by field goals made, so it's entirely possible that if sorted by field goal percentage with a minimum # of attempts, the number of the top 40 is higher.

But I'm also not sure that it's relevant for the sake of the discussion (whatever it is) that a mid-level college kicker who will never get a sniff in the NFL is getting compared to an NFL kicker. Given there are 32 NFL kickers without eligibility expiration issues and 126 FBS schools, there's bound to be dropoff. I guess my point is that while college kickers are worse than NFL kickers and do make for some interesting moments, that the can't even make 35-yarders consistently statement is a bit of an overstatement.

Bronto, thanks for going to the trouble. I asked because I wondered if the top 40 were materially better, and if the next group were way worse. Obviously, not the case.

Anything's possible at this point. It'll be fascinating who they get. If San Francisco goes in the tank like it's looking like they might, even Harbaugh is in play. That would finally be the impetus for me to actually root for Michigan to lose every game.

Three weeks ago, Virginia Tech was everybody's darling after winning in Columbus. The next week, East Carolina beat them in Blackburg. Then, this past weekend, ECU put up 70 (70!) points on barely-not-ranked UNC.

I think ECU coach Ruffin McNeill and/or offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley are going to be getting raises and/or new jobs at the end of this season.

And a not really all that great Georgia Tech beat VT in Blacksburg also. But that was stunning to see the bomb that ECU dropped on UNC.

I'm like 99.99999999 percent sure Dave was joking. And KU is Bronto's rival, so while he's not joking, he kinda is. I don't know if I've heard of anyone actually seriously advocating their team should hire Kiffin.

Not ma ny people would argue that Kiffin isn't a good coordinator. Just one of those guys who isn't cut out for the head job. But in his defense, he wasn't raised in a household where he would have learned that those types of people exist.

Uni stuff, because WTF else do I know - the college different uni and helmet each week thing is either ridiculous or irresponsible (depending on how you feel about the NFL's stated reasoning for disallowing alternate helmets as of last season), but I really like Mizzou's look tonight

That being said, I've never seen anything worse that Syracuse's unis tonight. Until they got sweaty and the grey went two-tone. That was the worst.

I think fumbling a spike resulting in a defensive TD would be the funniest thing ever. Unfortunately, the play was so weird, the refs and most players didn't realize what happened. Syracuse is gonna get screwed here.

I want to give the SC kid credit for that catch, but honestly, given the shot the Missouri player had at him, the ball should have been knocked loose. He got the body and I think he got a swipe at the ball.

The gray uniforms are actually my favorite of Syracuse's three new uniforms this year (and, yeah, they looked a lot worse with the sweat marks).

But, I am really tired of listening to the complaints up here from the fan base. That's worse than any of the new uniforms.

Let's not bury the lede here. The head football coach at the University of Michigan put an obviously concussed player into a football game. If for that alone, he should have been fired by this morning.

Brian Cook is picking up his sword.

Yeah, he's boycotting until Hoke and Brandon are fired, understandably enough, but he also said he's running for regent in 2016. And I believe him. THAT will be a fascinating election.

(Regents for Michigan, Michigan State and Wayne State are directly elected by Michigan voters.)

I stopped watching that game in the 2nd Q (life is too short to wast a beautiful Saturday in Sept on that shitpile), so I missed this fiasco.

It's almost like he (Hoke) decided to just make it easy on everyone. I mean, you get embarrassed at home, that's probably enough for the full force pitchfork and torches to come out of the utility shed in the back yard. Then you go and do that? The kid almost passed out, in full view!!

I had no idea about what happened.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1mIcYz-DM8

How does this coach still have a job? Brian Billick was disgusted that Morris was still in the game because of his leg injury, but how he was left in and then brought back out post-concussion was an outrage.

The fact that the team is going nowhere makes this a really easy call for Michigan.

Here's all (well, not all, but it's telling) you need to know about how dimwitted Hoke is:

He was part of the crew that decided 5th year senior Devin Gardner deserved the honor of wearing Harmon's 98. 4 games into the season, the trust and esteem he apparently held Gardner in had evaporated to the point that a HORRIBLE performance from an obviously injured player (Morris) didn't warrant him coming off the bench. He should've been pulled because his leg was jacked up... Then the concussion, still no Gardner.

So, this is the guy we want judging character and talent? Gardner was the same guy that was a warrior for you last year, this year you insult him to this extent?

Yeah, Hoke is done.

I didn't know anything about that mess until I saw Brian's tweets about it. I then looked up the video from that game and couldn't believe it. That was disgraceful. How did nobody on Michigan's sideline not see and stop what was going on out there? I can't recall hearing an announcer go after a coaching staff like that either.

I'm glad you said something because I needed to delete the Tweet that referenced wanting to see Morris continue to play. That was in the early third quarter even before his ankle injury and was in reference to the coaching staff's apparent refusal to bench him for Gardner. NOT immediately after the concussion. I was appalled when that happened. But I didn't want there to be any confusion.
