Guessing the line for a 26 year old right D like Petry would be about 29 teams long.

Scary injury to Pascal Dupuis...

Pens melted down in the final 3 minutes or so.

Well that sucks. Hope he's ok. (Partly because he's on my fantasy team.)

That seemed to be a pretty awful call on the no-goal.

The NHL has a domestic violence case now,

Image

It is really impressive that the NHL had the foresight to have such powers written into the CBA. That is a stark contrast to the NFL making it up on the fly.

Also, suspended NHL players count against the salary cap. The LA Kings now have less than $500,000 in free space with six active defencemen.

So, contrasted with the Varlamov case, I wonder what's the difference. Just post-Rice or a worse report or some other detail that takes it from accusation to probable guilt?

I believe that Varlamov's gf was insane and was blackmailing him. I remember reading she pressed charges against him after he stopped giving her his credit card or something like that. And almost immediately the Avalanche said their investigation exonerated Varlamov

I believe that there must be more to the story. If it was just an allegation then I don't think the NHL would be suspending him so quickly. There must be some factual details that the press doesn't have yet.

That's what I'm hoping for, that the league looked into both of these the same and saw tangible differences and thus acted differently versus "had the exact Varlamov incident taken place a year later, he would have been suspended as well".

(For the record, I was really pissed off that Varlamov was playing in the immediate aftermath, so I was pretty wrong about that one.)

Haha. True. But it is still Oilers in charge of this game. And Drouin seems to be the only Tampa player playing, he looks amazing! He's everywhere when he's on the ice! Picking up pucks behind his goalie, and intercepting passes in Edmonton territory. He deserves a point in his first NHL game or at least a star.

Pavel Datsyuk (separated shoulder) may make his season debut tonight with the Wings in Montreal. Franzen (groin) to the short-term IR to make a roster spot available.

Montreal Canadiens tied for first place overall! First 6-1 start for them since 1977. Funny thing is, the only time they have held the lead in any of those 7 games is the first game against Toronto and they lost the lead pretty quick. Most of Montreal's wins are overtime or shootout wins after third period heroics.

And the Canadiens stay tied for first overall after a win over the team that beat them in the conference finals last year 3-1! Beautiful short handed goal by Montreal to start the scoring. I'm liking this season so far!

I want to go on record as hoping John Moore gets a legit suspension and the Quintal era is tougher than the Shanahan era.

(Also, Toronto fans are reeeeeeeallllllly mad at Lupul for letting a bone breaking in his hand, huh?)

Don't know how the Canadiens got to the top of the standings but they are dropping fast. It is painful to watch them play lately. Losing 4-0 to Chicago right now. sorry 5-0! fuck..... They suck!!!! Hopefully I'll be back soon saying how good they are but they can't buy a goal

I heard the crowd in Montreal wants Therrien fired.

If you didn't look at anything else, one would wonder why a coach who took a team to the ECF and an 8-4-1 record might be fired

Congrats so far, Degen. But, go check the Flames' record after 14 games last year. It was pretty good. But, did they make the playoffs last year? No, they finished with the 27th best record. Sorry, dude, I'm still looking for a reversion to the mean.
