Mariota. Yeah, he's supposedly a top 10 pick. Also Brett Hundley from UCLA. Should be some solid options there at QB for teams picking in the top 10. Hard not to imagine the Jets, Bucs and likely even Raiders, Titans and Rams in the market for a first round QB.
And Texans.

Be proud. Only reason I didn't include them is they might not be picking in the top 10, but yeah they're definitely in the market for a QB.

I like the QB change, but I really hope we do end up in the top 10. Not that it would matter considering how awful we are at drafting.

From one of the Lions blogs I read. The Lions have lost their last 5 straight AFC home games. Those games:

2012: HOU 34-31 (OT), IND 35-33 (last-second TD); 2013: CIN 27-24 (last-second FG), BAL 18-16 (61-yard FG with 15 secs left); 2014: BUF 17-14 (last-second FG)

Good times.

Mariota isn't a no-brainer #1 pick. If Jameis weren't a potential dangerous idiot he'd be a no-brainer first pick.

What a great half of football.

But seriously, what is wrong with the Bengals? They are playing like pure crap.

As a Browns fan, I was just waiting for something bad to happen.

I find it hard to believe that the Browns defence is as good as it looked. Somehow the 1993 Bengals showed up tonight - and the fans who were booing midway through the first quarter somehow knew that Dalton wasn't going to make a single important completion.

What fun!

That's pretty bad. But not even a fumble or two, or a sack for a safety? Seems a trifle lacking in diversity of failure. I'm confident that Dalton stands tall, well above several quarterbacks who have worn a Detroit Lions jersey with distinction.

Great fun...stadium seemed to be about 60-40 bengals to browns. At least in the End Zone where I was seated. Probably more like 75-25 but the Browns fans were pretty vocal. By the 2nd quarter the Browns cheeering was as loud as the Bengals cheering. Rolled into bed about 2:15. Not loving Friday so far.

Good God is right!

But here's the classic Derek Anderson performance.

A not very interesting side note - Billy Cundiff played in three of the four games (including last night's) cited above.

One other thing...you, the global you, may think Andy Dalton is bad. But no matter what you think...you overrate him compared to the bengals fans in my section.

The fanbase is indeed done with him.

Problem is, it is misguided anger. He is only where he is due to Marvin. Marvin's team, Marvin's qb, Marvin's coordinators, Marvin's approach, Marvin's mess. But Marvin won't go anywhere.

Yeah, Dalton should be benched, but Marvin left this team with no other option at qb. So Dalton will continue to be what he is.

No hope.

This sucks.

How many other teams just have an "option" at backup QB? Browns?

I urge everyone to look at this mind boggling box score.

In terms of teams without options at QB - I am starting to think that Whaley in Buffalo knows what he is doing. Snagging Orton now looks like a masterstroke, especially since it left the Cowboys with Weeden at backup.

Well, I was advocating big time for them to take Bridgewater in the draft. That would have given them an option in case Dalton kept being Dalton. Also would have put what I think would have been beneficial pressure on Dalton. Instead, they gave him big money and left themselves no outs. No one on the Bengals team fears for their jobs, and it shows in their prep and readiness.

Dalton was epically bad last night. Missing receivers by miles. I swear he overthrew a dude by 15 feet on one throw. AJ must hate him.

His big money is cuttable every year. If they fuck up again and say Jameis Winston falls or something they can cut him in a heartbeat.

Bridgewater would make sense but that's a tough sell. I'd think they should draft 4th round QBs every year at this point.

His big money still is an unnecessary hit for next year. If they cut him after this one, he still counts 9 or 10 million against the cap. Senseless. Especially when they could have waited and backed themselves up with Bridgewater. It's not like Dennard is being give an opportunity to really play. Marvin loves his vets, and, in fairness, they've been really good at CB. But that's the point, why go depth with Dennard and not go depth at QB?

If you want to take it a step further, Carolina had 62 yards in penalties, and only 11 Net Passing Yards. Eleven. That's a shorter distance than from the pitcher's mound to home plate in Little League.

The fact that all of his passes were high makes me think he was uncomfortable with the weather. There was a strong breeze and he wasn't throwing a tight ball to cut through it.
