NFL 2014 Week 13

Post by brian »

Yeah, Week 12 technically isn't over yet, but...had to post that Packers/Patriots O/U opened up at 60, the highest total for an NFL game in at least 20 years.

I think too much is made of weather where O/U is concerned. The Lions and Eagles played a game that hit 54 last year in a snowstorm that dumped 6 inches of snow during the game and rendered passing almost impossible. There's valid reasons to think 60 is too high, but weather isn't super high on the list.

Starting at Quarterback for the 2015 New York Jets?

Robert Griffin - benched by the Redskins.

Am I crazy to say that if I were the GM of a team with a questionable QB situation, and RG3 could be had cheap, I would absolutely take a flyer on him? He's just two years removed from an excellent rookie season, was rushed back from an injury, had to deal with one coach who didn't like him and another that may not know what he's doing, not to mention the worst owner/fanbase/local media in sports, and he's already being written off as a failure? His supposed baggage doesn't sound that different than a number of other star players and seems like it's just a result of being put under a microscope by people desperate to find a reason to dislike him.

I doubt he'll ever be 2012 Griffin, but I'd take a shot on him. That 2012 team had no business being a playoff squad.

He needs a system that plays to his strengths. And of course he needs to be less afraid to get out and run, but maybe that's the system more than him. He doesn't seem to have any sort of grasp of what they are doing form the admittedly small sample size of me watching the Potomac Basin Indigenous Persons.

That'd be awesome essentially having 3 identical ineffective QBs on one team. We'll call them the Boyz from Brazil.

I'd absolutely take a flyer on Griffin if I had an unsettled QB situation, but I don't know if he can be had for a reasonable price considering the haul Washington had to give up for him. But if I could get him for say a second and a sixth or something like that? I'd do it. In the right system I think he can still be a good QB.

What do you think it would take to get him? It's not going to be lower than a second-rounder for starters and probably will require a late-round pick as well.

barnwells' article mentioned third rounders. I don't know enough about it to say with any certainty, but it sure seems to me that it's a classic buy low proposition. The redskins have no leverage. He's been pretty awful, but I also think he can be a starting QB in the league. I think the redskins was jsut a terrible place for him (or any) QB at the moment.

Maybe multiple third-rounders, yeah. Like I said, I think a second and a sixth would be fair and two thirds isn't too far off from that. I think if I'm the Washington GM and I'm really going to move him, there's going to be some interest out there especially at that price.

SF Chronicle wrote:Niners general manager Trent Baalke released a statement today after his college-aged daughter, Cass, criticized offensive coordinator Greg Roman via Twitter following a 19-3 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night.

“My daughter and I both regret that her feelings got the best of her after last night’s game and she chose social media as an avenue to express her feelings,” Baalke said. “We have apologized to Greg for this unfortunate matter. While disappointed, as a father I will use this as a teachable moment to help my daughter grow.”

After the 49ers had a season-low 164 yards on Thursday, Cass Baalke wrote: “Greg Roman can take a hike … the 49ers don’t want you no more.”

Her Twitter account has since been deleted.

Is it really embarrassing you in a public way. Roman did play like shit.

And if it did. it should be HER apologizing for her own actions.

She's 19, she's speaking as a frustrated fan, just like other frustrated fan.

But if it is a big deal, which it certainly has turned out to be, then she should apologize on twitter and not delete posts. Seems such a cop out to have her dad have to release a statement.

It's been a bad year for them in all areas.

I don;t know what Fouts was wailing about. It was a pretty clear foul.

And in terms of the Browns, Hoyer should have taken his last snap of the season. He has been garbage for the past three weeks. Not average like Kyle Orton, but hopeless.

I thought that Jordache Nelson was totally propped up by Rodgers, especially after those 3 or 4 drops in the Super Bowl a few years back. But that ~47 yard screen and run for the TD to end the first half was something I expected TO in his prime would do. That was a beaut.

To watch two Hall of Famers like Brady and Rogers after suffering through Orton Vs. Hoyer is both exhilirating and aggravating... both for obvious reasons.

Does Rogers ever through a bad pass?
