A piece of aluminum debris found in 1991 might tell us what really happened to Amelia Earhart.

ETA: In case anyone is interested where Nikumaroro (or Gardner Island) is located, open Google Earth and go to 4 degrees, 40' 40.29" South and 174 degrees, 30' 52.65" West.

Grabbed this from the piece -

But that's pretty misleading, since they generally aren't paid with taxpayer money or even tuition. Athletic departments generate their own budgets (at least at the big schools that pay their coaches like that).

This isn't valid criticism. In the whole history of literature there have been protagonists that were powerless to affect the story's outcome.

The tomb might not necessarily be sealed to snakes, which means they could leave the tomb to eat and then re-enter the snake pit. So, it could happen ...

PS - In looking for a decent screenshot where you can see the snake's reflection (tough to find because it's subtle and they cleaned it up at some point), I discovered that you can see Sigourney Weaver's boob in the scene in Ghostbusters where she gets grabbed by her chair and dragged into the kitchen.

Unlucky but this should not go to the courts. I would assume the NFHS has very clear indication in their rule books to avoid situations like this. The Lacrosse Rule book makes it very clear that coaches have an ability to challenge a correction for misappliction of rules before the next play and that a game ends at the conclusion of the game. Seems like that would be life when you agree to play by the rules in the book (including when they are misapplied).

seems like they team had a chance to challenge the application.

Maybe. What is certain is that parents are shitty people.

A kid on my younger son's team last year was the same age as these kids and he was a holy terror on the field. He wasn't huge, but he was one of the bigger kids and just stronger, better and more aggressive than the rest. He loved getting the ball and just lowering his shoulder and running through defenders. He absolutely planted kids sometimes, but usually when he had the ball. I'm certain that pissed off some parents, but thankfully we never came across anyone quite that terrible to make a bigger deal out of it than it warranted.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN MARYLAND?

http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/05/02 ... om-prison/
The Baltimore gang’s tactics are emerging as more court documents are filed in a massive racketeering case accusing 13 female corrections officers of colluding with seven male inmates and several other gangsters on the outside.

Corrections officers allegedly smuggled BGF members contraband such as cellphones, which are essential to carrying out a criminal enterprise from behind bars. Many of the guards are also accused of being literally “in bed” with the BGF inmates.

Four of the officers became pregnant with prison gang leader Tavon White’s baby, and two got tattooed with the gang leader’s name.
