5 Star Recommendation Thread

Post by Jerloma »

Anything you want but if you're going to tag something with 5 stars and we try it and it's shit, you're banned for a week.

I'll start...

That'll put you on the short list for the 2015 top ten, Sean. If you can just go the rest of the year without defaming the Swamp, I really like your chances.

Great thread idea. I was on the phone while looking at this, and read it as "Salt and Vagina" and had to stifle laughter.

Sarge, tell me more about this hot wine. If wine is good hot, why are they only doing it in Germany? Can I just take a glass of Cabernet and warm it up in a pan or is there a science behind this?

Yup. All over Europe, Unc. Not just Germany. It's omnipresent during the winter festival season. A couple Euros and it keeps you warm and tipsy.

Take cheap red wine and heat it up with orange slices, cloves, a bit of sugar, and cinnamon stick or 2. Done.

Or get a bit fancy: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/hot-spiced-christmas-wine/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yeah, no. I like wine too much to put fucking cinnamon in it. That reminds me of Cincinnatians that somehow think cinnamon in chili is an acceptable combination. Fuck cinnamon.

It's not a cinnamon challenge level of cinnamon. Or even a Big Red gum spicy cinnamon. You use the sticks for the aroma.

And you've never even had it. I bet you that if you were handed a cup you'd drink it, not notice the cinnamon and be like, "Kid, this wine is wicked good. I want moah of it."

i'm with 'loma. Cinnamon isn't quite at the ketchup level but as an additive to something that needs no additive? fuck the heck? that's almost like putting ice in your Scotch.

i always said i hated cinnamon (the smell alone of cinnabons is awful) but when making ~Thai food, throw a cinnamon stick (or better - 2) in the pot of otherwise boring brown rice and it improves it greatly.

I like a dash of cinnamon on some coffee, hate it paired with apples.

Mulled wine is awesome, as is Wassail (basically mulled cider.)
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
