I could have written it better.

Saw a play adaptation of Alice in Wonderland and it was horrible, a monkey could have written it better. Which made me think, there's lots of shit out there i could have written better. any standouts for you guys?

i'm thinking matrix sequels right away. The first one was awesome. The wachowski bros should have handed the story telling to someone else for the next two and stuck to directing. especially considering one of them is now a girl.

I could spend all day answering this but . . . let's just say most television, most film, most popular novels, most pop songs, most advertising, most reporting and most stage plays I've ever seen.

Yeah, i feel the same way apart from a few genius tv shows, a couple dozen novels, a ton of perfect movies, and the odd play or two. but pop songs? how can you write those better? They are meant to be shit.

oh and advertisements, don't get me started, who the fuck couldn't write better ads? it's all about target markets, they be dumb, you be dumb

True. But there is a difference, however slight, between "stupid" and "staggeringly stupid". Or "insultingly stupid". I could write stupid pop songs (if I was paid to do so, of course). I could work some solid stupid into them, aim them at the lowest of brows, but still have enough self-respect not to rhyme "tonight" with "gonna get it right, tonight".

I read somewhere that when they first met with the studio about The Matrix, the first draft of what the Wachowski brothers had written to be the Matrix movie was what was in the sequels. If memory serves, the studio didn't want to make the movie they pitched for whatever reason, probably because it was terrible, but asked them to write in essence a prequel about how Neo came to them.

That draft went on to become what it did, and because it was such a huge hit, the studio had no choice but to defer to the Wachowski's original ideas for the sequels.

Kung Fu movies are like porn. There's 1 on 1, then 2 on 1, then a group scene..

I read the first 50 pages or so.....after hearing Dan Savage talk about it on his podcast. His take was "hey, it sucks, but anything that gets suburban married woman to embrace their inner kinkiness is a good thing".

Its awful....the writing is beyond horrible.

Well, it did start as Twilight fan fiction.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

So, so sad that none of these women have ever heard of "the internet." Surely, their husbands have.
