USMNT for game next Wed. Surprise is Jordan Morris. He is a Sophomore at Stanford and product of Seattle's academy. I am sure he got the spot that would have gone to Johannson if he was not hurt. I am guessing we will get 90 minutes from Green in this game.

Report saying Jurgen is calling up a 5'7" striker from the NASL for the next USMNT. Miguel Ibarra plays for Minnesota United and has been in good form.

Name the last player who got the minor league MNT call up? Bonus points if you know the team he played for at the time and how he got his break.

Clyde Simms...Was with the Richmond Kickers and got his break when the USMNT held out in negotiations with US Soccer. Clyde got to stay with the team after the agreement (saving the US from sending a minor league team to a qualifier). He got 1 injury time cap against England but a full career in the MLS.

When are we going to pull the plug on Orozco? He played well in a youth tournament, maybe the Olympics a while back. He has been brought into the USMNT squad periodically for years, and has proven he can't hack it in full internationals. I didn't realize how old he is (28), so enough already. He'll be 32 in 2018, so he has no chance in hell of going to Moscow. Now that I'm thinking about it, didn't he make a horrendous mistake in whatever tournament he played in, getting the youth team knocked out?

Thanks, that is exactly what I was thinking of. Funny seeing Marvel Wynne's name in the lineup. He seemed like a revelation in that tourney and I expecting him to take over for Cherundolo. Never saw much of him in the USMNT.

So Wahl says Clint is not going to make the roster for these 2 friendlies (Soccer by Ives says he will get 1 game). Son of Kraft is saying Lee Nguyen will get the call up. This will be his 4th cap..His 3 senior caps all came during the summer of 2007 (when he was with PSV and before his strange transfer to the Vietnam Pro League).

So an NCAA player makes the roster (Jordan Morris will miss the regular season finally for Stanford.) but no Dempsey. Ibarra from the NASL gets a return trip to camp. No surprises between the pipes. I was going to say maybe they were taking into account the MLS playoffs, but Yedlin, Nguyen inclusion indicate that is not the case.

That's good to hear. I thought he threw his career in the toilet when he moved to Vietnam.

He went to Vietnam for a salary of $100,000 per year becoming to highest paid athlete in the country and to bang actresses.

Folks thought Tesho Akindele from Dallas was going to get the call up. Tesho was born in Canada but raised in the states. Played youth for Canada and turned down a Call up from them this week when he thought he may get a sniff by the USMNT.

Did not realize Chris Albirght was the last Amateur to be called up the MNT (1999) and the last one to actually get a cap was Ante Razov in 1995.

I think he was on the provisional USMNT roster, so turning down Canada was a no-brainer. I think he'll get cap-tied at some point.

Passive offsides is fine when the player is nowhere near the play but if the goalie has to honor the fact that guy is there, it has to be called (same problem with Barcelona's goal against Ajax in last weeks CL game...Ajax goalie had to hold coming off his line because Messi was there)

video went out on espn3....right before the goal...grrr....US does not look as fast as columbia transitioning from playing d to generating Offense. Lots of guys walking...However Run DMB always involved getting up the left side. He is also good at marking the ball.

I really, really, really hope the Jermaine Jones-as-a-CB experiment ends quickly. He was absolutely lost on the first Chile goal, and Rimando immediately walked up to him to tell him where he should've been. If they're going to play a 3-5-2, they should park Jones and Kyle Beckerman ahead of a real CB and play Bradley and Mix higher up. They also will need to find some damn good wing backs to play behind Shea and Yeldin if they're going to remain upfield. It's pretty obvious Yeldin doesn't care to play defense too much.

The argument is Jones won't be able to play midfield at the World Cup in 3.5 years but can probably still play in the back for the MNT. For these games it is about building the team to do good stuff at the Cup. However, the Gold Cup and Copa America make near term needs more apparent.
