Very hip. Maybe with the Tower of Power horns to add the funk?
(I'm just jealous cuz he wrote a couple of ok tunes, and dated Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks, although presumably not at the same time.
Not at the same time only because they couldn't get the dump truck holding the coke that this would have required through the front yard and up to the bedroom window.
He'd probably end up banging Gaga.)
A given. The passion and heartbreak would then provide the content for his next three albums, and several songs that she would cover. I see Linda Ronstadt going into spontaneous remission long enough to cut a double album of the best tunes. The Eagles would seriously consider recording Souther's new material in between million-dollar corporate gigs, but in the end they would erupt in conflict, sue each other, fire the already-fired Don Felder, replace their bassist, and go into rehab.

Basically what happened every three years in the 80s.

Son, (smu point guard), you can't miss that twice.

ETA: clearly goaltending. The shot does not have to be destined to go in, any part of the ball in any part of the cylinder when touched.

Um, nevermind.

The NBA rule reads that the ball must, in the judgment of the official, have a chance to score. I can't find the NCAA rule, but an official on CBS announced that the ball must have a chance to go in. I have never heard that before.

That shot had no chance to go in. Wrong call.

Goaltending calls are for losers. Make the shot or get back and play some D. That's the Iowa State Way.

If Robert can't get behind the J.D. Souther album with Gaga, I've got another killer idea. "RMar Plays the '80s." The first single would be the Whitesnake cover with awesome synth and the boss lyrics about being born to walk alone, walking alone down the lonely road. Alone again, naturally -- hey, it could be a medley!

We could make a cool video with supermodels and fast cars, set on my boat The Hawkeyes. I really believe in this project. It is my vision. So I'll break my pledge to that sick kids charity for the first half of my winnings on Iowa State, and use that money for the rockin' video.

I think you can look at the UCLA call and argue that the rule should be changed one of two ways (or both):

1. Goaltending can be a call that's reviewed under two minutes like other calls

2. Remove the "reasonable chance of going in" part from the rule. Because you're asking officials to make a split-second decision on not only that, but if the ball was over the rim (and it looks pretty clear that a small part of it was over the rim when it was touched).

Yeh, the play where the guy didn't see the pass coming, and had it bounce off his face? Perfectly symbolizes this game.

But, on the positive side - Basil Smotherman is an outstanding basketball name.

I got home from playing basketball, saw the UNC score, then read the play-by-play of the final couple minutes. Whole thing really sums up Roy Williams.

16 point lead apparently. Failing to make adjustments to maintain a lead like that is more on the coach than the players, IMO. And I was speaking form experience with that guy. He should have beaten UK this year. He blew a 10 point lead to AUBURN in the SEC tournament in less than 6 minutes. Just not a guy who is a game manager at all.

I think I recall asking this to never be brought up again.

This year sucks. I have 0 rooting interests on day 2 of the tourney. Just all upsets at this point. And I guess go for Sunbelt's own Georgia State after they took out the Bears yesterday.

Whoa, here's some breaking news that transcends the games themselves ...

According to a source, names DePaul will consider include Valparaiso's Bryce Drew, Green Bay's Brian Wardle, La Salle's John Giannini, Manhattan coach Steve Masiello, Buffalo's Bobby Hurley and unemployed veteran Ben Howland.

UW needs to cool the f out or they will play themselves out of this game. N. Iowa is clearly a more disciplined team.

Only one on that list who seems like a fit to me is Wardle.

Marc Stein tweeted overnight that Ty Corbin to DePaul is being told in the NBA coaching circles. This would have about the same fit (NBA coaching retread returns to his alma mater) and success rate (22-43 in two seasons) as Eddie Jordan to Rutgers.

Looking at the boxscore on the side of the screen, it looks like both teams are playing 3 guards, no centers. Is that normal these days?

Is 'Cyclone' a nickname for the Hawkeyes? I can definitely see people confusing hawks with dragons; both fly, after all. I'm very impressed with what Steve Alford is doing with the team this year. I'll bet they're happy back in Des Moines with this unstoppable team. Me too -- in a more financial kind of way than the homies, of course. I've got the boat design pretty much roughed out. Not sure yet just how to align the helipad with the rotating sky lounge. I don't want sun to hit the copter and cause glare in the lounge, of course.

After ISU wins the tournament, perhaps we'll have a nice little outing on the boat for the team. They paid for it, after all. I remember the good old days with Jalen, Juwan, Chris and the boys, tooling up and down Lake Michigan with the girls from the club. Great for recruiting. Those days ended way too soon.

This time it will be different, as I've got a bigger boat. Also, can the NCAA possibly enforce rules as to coke, strippers, cash-laden birthday cakes and such when we're way out beyond the continental shelf? There's no NCAA in the Bahamas! Even the bankers wear shorts with their business attire. So it's pretty clear that they don't are about the petty little stuff.
