You are under-selling it. It killed this season. Great comedy.
The Russ Hannemann character killed me. When he was freaking out about no longer being a "B" and losing a comma was great stuff. And complaining about how the doors on his car opened? Awesome stuff...
Based on Mark Cuban, apparently.

Yeah, that was one of the least hidden renderings in the history of television. Absolutely hysterical.

Gillfoyle is slaying me. Hell, all of it. The scene where richard and jared interview the disbarred attorney and jared helpfully notes that the attorney is describing an anal dilator with richard's "wait, how did you know that aside" was tremendous.

I haven't caught up on much on this season of Silicon Valley yet (hell I'm behind 6+ episodes of Game of Thrones), but one of my all-time favorite lines ever uttered on TV was TJ Miller's "You just brought piss to a shit fight you little cock. You get in your fucking house and get me 5 Adderall or I will slit your fucking throat, understand? I will kill your mother, rape your father and curb stomp that little face so teeth will go flying you little shit."

New True Detective. I liked it (you're not alone, Brian).

A little overly slick, but a nice job of presenting the major characters. The dude riding a motorcycle at 95mph w/o any eye protection was cute. The first season set a high bar, but this is promising.

Felt like it could have been directed by David Lynch. I mean that as a compliment. Seems to share some DNA with Lost Highway, one of the most underrated movies ever IMO

Seemed like the kinda thing that would usually cap off a season premier, not episode 2. Whichever way they go with it will at least be interesting.
I think I'm liking it more than the general consensus of critics (I might be the only one who doesn't mind Vince Vaughn in this), but without reading episode recaps its hard to pick up on everything going on.

I'm only ten minutes into Ep. 3. I am not happy. I'm not sure I'll be sticking with this show. That was a real cop out.

Catastrophe on Amazon with Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan is great. Six episodes, 25 minutes each. It's technically a romantic comedy, but don't let that dissuade you. The writing and acting are fantastic.

For you cord cutters, if you use Plex there is a channel for the BBC 1Player that allows you to watch pretty much any BBC show. Just need to make it think you're in the UK.

Yeah, but it seemed kind of obvious, no? You hype a major star, including trailers that showed scenes he was in that hadn't aired* and then you just kill the guy off?

* Granted, my alternate theory was he was used in flashback scenes on those trailer, or even more alt/outlandish they were planting fakes scenes to throw people off.

I like it so far, but I don't have a lot of the Vince Vaughn can't play serious roles hang-ups a lot of people have and I'm not comparing it (much) to the first season.

I will say, I'm really tired of these shows where all the dudes talk in monotone growls that are incredibly hard to decipher.

If you don't actually kill him off, with two shotgun blasts at very close range, then it is a cheap hack stunt, in lieu of actual drama, and you lose me. Sure if I had to bet, it was likely to be a cheap hack stunt rather than an entree to a creative use of flashback. That's what I get for being optimistic (about Hollywood.)

The monotone inaudible 'acting' too. Not just the dudes.

Yeah, I don't know enough about the rubber buckshot stuff he said it was. I thought those non-lethals were bean bags or something, but I didn't look into it.

I did like that he pissed himself. Authentic!

Oh, I almost forgot. Conway fucking Twitty? The dancing dwarf from Twin Peaks wasn't available? I suppose a fight with a guy in a chicken suit is next.

And they used the wrong version of that tune:

That looked interesting from the commercials, but I haven't seen it. Looks like it could be really cool, or really bad. Great cast, though.

Oh boy, that Hannibal Buress show was brutal.

It seemed like they shot a rehearsal for his in-studio stuff - complete with shots of laughing audience members to cover the edit points.

And the skits were not funny at all. Amy Shumer was okay, but she can't be on every show. And the long closing skit was almost painful to watch.

Maybe I'll watch it again in a few weeks, but that was a really weak half hour.

Second that. Which sucks because I think HB is one of the top 5 stand ups out there right now. Hopefully it gets its feet under it. If not its gonna be finished in 4-5 eps.

I was going to quit after episode 1 but started episode 2 and it maybe growing on me (some subtle things that are funny).

Now to get some Bagpipes O'Toole's Scotch-Flavored Vodka.

I do wonder if IFC will just put anything on that has mild name recognition and does not cost much (Marc Maron's sitcom, Comedy Bang Bang, etc.)
