If you would have told me 10 years ago that jackasses would still be yelling "Get in the hole!" after tee shots I would have predicted I would have committed suicide or homicide.

Fox is lucky that this tournament is so goofy on its own. If this were Winged Foot or Pinehurst we'd be comparing the coverage to how the same courses were covered in the past. But this is like Golden Tee with real humans.

Did some jackass just yell "Mashed Potatoes" after Tiger's putt for birdie?

Years ago some tournament, and I think it was the 2000 pga at Valhalla got flak for piping in artificial bird noises. No joke I think they are piping in jackass noise. For god sakes someone yelled for Paul Casey.

The guys even sound the same.

Buddy is reporting that yesterday, Tiger flat topped a 3wood. Like topped it like I do once a round. Anyone else see this?

I'm really excited for when he withdraws and we get to hear about the latest bullshit injury he has.

I don't remember a top but i didn't see the first 4 holes or so - Directv went out from cloud cover. But he has no idea where the ball is going. he missed a fairway that is 100 yards wide. By a far piece.

You, me, nor dupree would break 120 playing that set up. So while I get your point, it's still unfair to say he's gone full ian baker finch.

I top a 3-wood, he tops a 3-wood. We are the same, he and me.

Also, I probably would not break 200 on that course.

I have a question about the course. Why does the course have to be so perfect for professionals? I have heard there have been many complaints about the set up and the condition of the greens. Are these men not the best golfers in the world? Shouldn't they be able to adjust to non-perfect conditions? I don't watch or keep up with golf, so I ask mainly out of ignorance.

They expect this at a true links-style course so they don't complain too much. But it's atypical of a US Open course, which have always been the stereotypical parkland style, with the rare exceptions of a course like Shinnecock, but that too still has more of a feel that they are used to in the States.

And Fox didn't have a good party line on the greens...the featured holes online had announcers speaking about how, while the greens don't LOOK pristine, they roll very well. As opposed to Norman and Buck railing on how shitty they are. I think Norman was speaking as a player and Buck just went with him. And I totally get how the aesthetic can make them look like they roll differently, but I don't think they really do. I think they are just difficult greens to read no matter what.

Also, golfers are a spoiled bunch. They are used to playing on courses that, even when they are considered "bad" make the best course in your area look like a goat ranch.

Although, this is a pretty telling quote from FIGJAM

""I think the biggest challenge is that the green speeds are different from green to green," said Phil Mickelson, who has otherwise lauded the course. "That's going to wreak havoc on our touch. And that's the only thing I could possibly think of that is not really positive, because I think it's been very well done.

"The best way to wreak havoc with us is change the speeds of the greens from green to green, no question."

It should be tough. That's part of what I enjoy the most about the US Open. It's fun to see the world's best struggle sometimes. It's fun to watch guys struggle but still manage to hit those shots that make you shake your head and say "how the??". I understand that -16 is going to win the Masters some years, but that's not what I want at the Open. It's supposed to be the hardest tournament of the year.

Yep, topped the shit out of it, which led to the ball ending up in the deep quasi-pot bunker. I think it was on 17, definitely one of the late holes yesterday. It led to the great gif of him climbing in said bunker, looking like the old "going down the stairs behind the couch" trick.

hard to tell if it was dehyrdration or if he rolled an ankle. He is definitely limping a bit but is gonna try to gut out the finish. He looks pretty shaky.

After he WDed after feeling dizzy a few weeks ago, it's gotta likely be all related. Unless he's insanely unlucky. I guess his MRI came back negative, which is good because I gotta say watching that freaked me out because it looked (so I'm told) a lot like what happened to me.

They mentioned he has had vertigo symptoms over the last month. The video of him going to the ground looks like he fainted, although turning an ankle is possible.

Tiger stumbled and fell to the ground earlier, but w/o apparent injury, just metaphor.

Sergio (of course) missed a 1 footer to move the cut line down to +5 and saved about 12 guys.

Edit: Webb Simpson birdied to move it back to +4. He's got 2 holes left.
