Not to mention the only instrument Trey has in the video is whatever his high-as-fuck imagination has conjured up.

This new El Vy song "Return to the Moon" is either really great or proof I'd love anything with Berninger's voice on it.

Excerpt from what I'm pretty sure is meant to be a positive review of Bon Jovi's new release (from iTunes):

Father John Misty's new one is good but if someone whose musical likes almost mirror mine hates it, I would understand. Not for everyone.

Based on a small sample size, I think I hate Father John Misty.

I heard this song yesterday on the radio:

and it took me a couple of beats to place where I knew it from. Then my ipod was nice enough to actually play "When Gunpowder Raps" this morning, just after I got done pulling a turd tangled up in some unholy combination of grass and my wife's and/or kid's hair out of my dog's ass. In the rain. Thanks man!

I mostly enjoy Taylor's music as it is, and no I'm not ashamed of that. But this is unexpected and neat. Hit and miss for me, but neat.

Seeing Adams and Kozelek get all gimmicky with more popular artists is pretty weird, right?

Adams and Swift are apparently good friends.

And I've listened to some of the songs, and they just underscore that Swift is a talented songwriter.

Exactly. I think his versions really show how great her songwriting is, as well as how talented he is to rearrange them in his own style.

And, fuck Kozelek. #teamwarondrugs

Yeah, it just seemed out of line and lame and probably 100% intentional. Kozelek seems like a real dick.

The new Lucero album (All A Man Should Do) is possibly their best album yet. And this is coming from a huge fanboy* who thinks that Tennessee is probably one of the best 40 or 50 albums of all-time.

I think the cover of Big Star's "I'm In Love With A Girl" with Jody Stephens of Big Star singing backup is what put it over the top for me.

RIP Alex Chilton

* - Yes, this cuts both ways, but I haven't put any of their last three albums in my post-year Top 10 lists. I think I'm capable of being objective.

Style was probably my favorite song on the album by Swift, and Adams's version is even better.

Yeah, holy crap 1989 is good. Agree with AB on Style, but had I just picked this up not knowing the background, it'd be one of my favorite Ryan Adams records for sure. Bad Blood sounds the most similar to the Swift version, but it's amazing.

Also digging the new Gary Clark, Jr. Haven't had a chance to listen to the new Lucero.

That's my least favorite cover of the singles from the original album. His version of Out of the Woods is better than hers, IMO.

Oh yeah, it was perfect all around.

(If we're chatting Pitchfork, has anyone explained since the last time I asked why they do "indie" music and then the most popular rap in the world versus closer-to-underground rap?)

((Just so we don't gloss over, I absolutely still do read Pitchfork. I like their review system.))

Really digging this new Kurt Vile album. I only really liked a couple or three songs off his last album, but this one seems more....focused, I guess? Less of a stoner-y vibe.

I'm listening to the Ryan Adams now. I actually haven't listened much to either him or Taylor Swift - outside a few of her big hits on this album. It definitely reminds me of some late 70's Springsteen. Or maybe the slightly poppier 80's Springsteen, actually.

Bad Blood just doesn't work in this style. Too obviously poppy.
