You'd only have to lose 5-0 😉
Yeah. I fixed it. We are not losing 5-0 either.
Yup. Like Canada wasn't officially qualified after Thursday but really it was impossible.

I think the places are set. Costa Rica with a great recovery to finish 4th and will smoked New Zealand or Solomon Islands.

Now it would have to be 6, assuming that goals scored is second tiebreaker.

Yes.

Also, GGG needs to get Pulisic out early in the second half. Panama looking to hurt people.

I don’t see how that wasn’t a penalty. Some USA fans have Stockholm Syndrome from too much time in CONCACAF

I thought it was a little soft. Not usually given, but a foul.

Yup. Panama showing no fight. Crazy. They just gave up after the first goal.
To be fair to them, they showed lots of "fight" it just wasn't very well focused. They lost their fucking minds,to be more specific.

VERY FUCKING STUPID tonight.

I mean... thanks? But that was just ridiculously CONCACAF of them.

Gio Reyna is a hell of a talent. It took me a good sixty seconds to figure out who the tall dude was with the fresh fade.

Yep, me and my buddies could not figure that out and we had the sound down. Took for the broadcast to do a very close shot of him to work it out.

Thanks! It's been an incredible ride. Since losing in the intercontinental playoffs to miss out on World cup 94 and the fluke 2000 Gold Cup win, its been so dire. Scrapping the bottom of the barrel dire. At times Canada wasn't even ranked in the top 10 of CONCACAF! I've watched this national team lose 8-1 to Honduras when it mattered, I've watched them lose to Mauritania and Martinique. Canada's seeding in qualifiers got worse and worse, not even getting a spot in the semifinal groups. Canada had to play 20 matches this cycle, starting off with games against Cayman Islands, Bermuda and Aruba!

We'll see where they get placed in the draw. If they end up in Pot 4, I don't think and of the big boys will want to draw them.

I'm really excited to see a strong Canadian program. It'll make CONCACAF so much more interesting, and the Candian fans deserve it. They play better as a team than just about any country I can think of, plus they have some really exciting players. Just a fun group to watch. And selfishly, I think it'll push the US team to become better having a second rival.

World cup 2026 qualification process will be interesting for Concacaf. If US, Mexico, and Canada all get auto qualifications, will Concacaf be playing for a sport or 2 in an intercontiental chance? Feels very Oceanic

Was talking about the auto qualification thing last night... Just seems kind of bullshitty to have 3 slots taken up like that. I also don't really like that the team wouldn't have truly meaningful games for an entire cycle.

Would have to get creative. Qatar got invited to both Gold Cup and Copa America.
Or US and Mexico can play 100 times and rake in the dollars.

It is also getting harder to schedule friendlies with European teams as the Nations League really removed a ton of friendly opportunities (along with a few dates getting lost to Concacaf nations league). Guess we would see more games against South American teams and African teams. Those weird friendlies in Germany and Belgium with no home team just US expats/military in the seats.

This probably hurts Canada more than others.

Unless you saw the game, you just can't imagine how bad Jamaica was yesterday. One of their subs played on a new team in the Canadian Professional League. Which makes the MLS look like the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The ways that John Herdman has come up with to motivate his players is really ingenious.

Not that there was much to worry about anyway but seems likely to be a CRC B team on Wednesday or at the least a not very aggressive one.

Really? I just assumed those would reset and Costa Rica's tactic would be to try and bait the US into an early red by playing on or over the edge.

It's absolutely ridiculous that the yellows don't get negated at some point during the Octagonal, let alone for the playoff in Doha.

I mean, things would've been a lot different for us on Sunday without Adams, who came into this cycle sitting on a yellow.

Yep, my watch crew picked up on this... First off, the decoy stuff is brilliant. I know our guys didn't invent it, but I absolutely loved that they adopted it and that it was so effective. (side note: was very happy to see the ref give a Panamanian a yellow for this stuff leading up to the kick being taken. That shit needs to be knocked out of the game.)

But, yeah, during the Pulisic dust-up, it was very cool to see both LDLT and Adams playing the effective role of shield there. I would disagree with the analysis that Pulisic's behavior was bizarre. Fuck those canaleros, they are kicking the shit out of him all night (per usual) and I'm still annoyed the broadcast (and refs) never really did anything about who it was that kicked the ball that hit LDLT in the nards.

Men in Blazers said it came from the bench. I don't blame Pulisic for going off, but you have to be careful not to draw unnecessary cards. Game is already out of reach, let it go. Easier said than done in the moment and I do respect him showing fire all game and no fear of mixing it up.

And while I do get all that (not getting a dumb card)... If I'm CP, at some point, enough is enough and I'm going to get in someone's face. They (like everyone else in CONCACAF) think that he's a target for intimidation. You need to stand up for yourself.
