Eh, traffic is probably pretty light what with the pandemic... Unless you are avoiding the diseased masses of the filthy City.

My GF just texted me...ER doctor at Evergreen died last night from Covid-19. In his 40s, healthy, no co-morbidities. He was one of the doctors working on the first patients that came in from the Nursing home.

Made it home. Did not enjoy the completely full flight from San Jose to DTW. At least I got to inform the woman sitting in the aisle seat that I had already used a Clorox wipe on our shared armrest so she didn't have to. Also did not enjoy the complete lack of social distancing while in the airport. When in lines, I gave extra space to the person in front of me, but you can rest assured the person behind me was up on my ass, even though at least 20 percent of travelers were wearing a mask of some kind.

Was not excited to find out my wife was bringing the kids with her to pick me up at the airport. Turns out, even though inessential businesses should close (there's no order to do so), my wife thought the massage place would still be open so her mother would be able to use her appointment. As such, everyone came to the airport instead of the mother-in-law and children remaining at our house. So, 25 minutes sharing recirculated air in the car for everyone.

Kind of defeats the purpose of starting to launder all of the clothes I traveled with as soon as I got home, spraying my bag, backpack, etc. with Lysol, and taking a thorough shower before touching either kid.

Should have just taken a fucking Lyft when we landed so early.

That is awful, I fear for frontline hospital staff. That's why everything should closed.

But then there are these people. My friend works in sales, they are ramping up.

Letter from VP:
There may not be a playbook on how to sell in an environment like this, but I contend we should carry on as normal as possible. While we stay active on jobsites, we must be careful to respect any/all project specific safety measures that our customers have implemented. We have been directed by health officials to avoid shaking hands and maintain social distancing where appropriate, and we can balance these cautious measures with remaining visible and active on jobsites. Many of your competitors will not be as tenacious and will lessen their activity in the field at this time, this will not be us. We will operate as normal unless commanded to do otherwise.

Remember the key to a strong year in your territory begins with a solid start in the spring. I encourage each of you to commit to regular and impactful jobsite and work place visits and continue to take market share in your territories from our competition.

Stay upbeat folks. Kid asked me with pain in his eyes why everyone (me) is so mad/sad. About the best thing I can do for them is to stay happy and hug em a lot. Covid be damned. We're all getting it anyway.

Jumped the gun on posting that...the Lead Dr in her clinic is now saying that its an unconfirmed rumor for now. The ER Doc in question has been in ICU for 4 or 5 days now, on a ventilator. As of yesterday he was critical, but stable.

Walked down Pearl this morning. Laughing Goat and Boxcar were doing orders from the door. Mountain Sun kitchen staff was in.

Yup.

Laughing Goat Annex in the Library on Campus was running yesterday, but can't believe they're making money staying open.

If they're mostly just working off inventory, its probably more about mitigating losses.

The NBA was very smart to shut everything down as soon as Gobert tested positive. Given the nature of the sport, once one team has cases it’ll spread rapidly throughout the entire league.

Also, based on reports like this it looks like the wave of cases we all feared is arriving:

It was already here, just turning away 1000s of patients because there weren't enough tests. Several expected positives in an elder care center that houses over 1000 elderly in a joint nursing home, elder car, active living community place. How the fuck can you handle that? You can't bring them all to the small local hospital near by that has maybe 15 ICU beds. I think they need to isolate them onsite, but who is going to treat them? I doubt the nursing home has adequate protective gear for 1 patient, let alone 100s. Going to be lots more dying...

Actually, I'll put that video in the other thread. This thread is more serious.

Ya know, we're at the point that we have to activate the national guard in every state and set up hospitals. We need to test nearly every American it seems like.

This is wild.

Also, Kevin Durant tested positive.

First Ontario death - near Toronto.

A 77 year old man with previous health issues.

Thinking about seniors homes right now is absolutely horrifying.

Midway seems like the most likely locale for devastating crash landing. That neighborhood is way too close to a major airport.

Nevada governor orders all non essential business shut down for 30 days.
Orders all gaming machines regardless of venue turned off at midnight. He needed to specify all because we have them in all grocery stores which will stay open.
Pubs, bars and restaurants may only stay open if they have a full kitchen and then only for take-out, delivery, or curbside pick-up.
Urges all grocery stores to have special hours for at-risk population.

There were many here who were not taking this seriously. I think he has everyone's attention now.

Stay safe all.

Alabama is beginning to shut down the ABC stores (Alabama beverage commission). That’s the only avenue to buy liquor (other liquor stores buy from abc to distribute). Effective today more than half of the stores close, and the ones that are open will only let people in 5 at a time. Not ashamed to say I stopped by on my way home from work yesterday to get a stock of bourbon and some brandy for my elderly neighbor.

You sooooooo don't have kids. If the logic is "get what you'd need to not leave your house for 2+ weeks", ketchup can be key.

Strange though our son went full ketchup, to full BBQ sauce, to now noo sauces at all. (Daughter still insists on ketchup but only uses it 20% of the time.)

They grow up so fast.
