I think I like Namkeen’s sandwiches better but if I feel like abusing myself and my innards the place in Union has a massive platter of chopped up fried chicken served over fries and doused in sauce and peppers that hits the spot.

How excited should I be for a new Dave’s Hot Chicken opening up 2 miles from our house?
There is a Jollibee opening in the same general area (on 22 near the Taco Bell, I think).

I hit up this place in Phoenix a while back and was pleasantly surprised. Lobster rolls for cheap. They're opening two locations in Tucson very soon. (They've expanded into Vegas and Flagstaff already.)

That's pretty fucking cool. And was very close to their wharf over the summer when we took a trip to Maine.

At least going by this summer's trip, even roadside food truck type establishments are costing you about $25 a pop for a roll. Those prices from a joint in Arizona almost make me worry.
But, not really. They jack around with those prices a lot. I bought lobster straight off the boat 5 years ago and it was stupid cheap.

We have pop-ups in our building and one the other day was a lobster roll place that wanted $19.99.
I think that's what I paid for one in Vegas like 10 years ago. Probably $39.99 now.

You're probably going to be just fine with a $9.99 lobster roll. I think lobster rolls are very overpriced.
But I don't eat any cheap seafood unless it's deep fried. The downside is just too high for me.

I liked it the time I tried it. And it had to travel about 30 minutes after I picked it up, so I bet it's pretty great fresh.

I would eat and enjoy a Little Caesar crazy puff even knowing that they’re probably part of some evil plan to make franchisees buy new equipment

The best Chinese food I've ever had was at the House of Nanking in San Francisco. We went in the early 90s, and it opened in the late 80s. I think at this point, it's more of a landmark than the upstart/emerging joint it was back then.
We were told to just ask the waiter to have the chef bring us 3 or 4 dishes and I wish I'd written it all down... but I just remember leaving with a better understanding (even if still very limited) of the cuisine.

This is in Flushing, Queens. Curious how the food in Manhattan's China Town matches up? I've never been to Flushing's China Town and haven't eaten in Manhattan's in close to 20 years. That guy lived pretty much my dream day. When I was in Boston I had an internship not far from Chinatown. Worked with a Chinese guy who took me to a bunch of places in Chinatown and ordered the authentic stuff that isn't on the English menu. Told me the best place for each dish and he'd try to freak me out with things he'd think I'd be too scared to try.

Similar story to nlfc’s.
Back when she was working, my wife had a work friend who had grown up in San Francisco’s Chinatown. He and his wife took us up to Chinatown for dinner one night. Tiny little place. The chef greeted him warmly when we arrived. No menus. “The chef will decide”. Don’t remember what we ate, but pretty damned good.

Boston's Chinatown is the best part of it's food scene. Boston has some amazing restaurants. But it also has a disproportionate amount of terrible restaurants that are also overpriced/expensive.

Me and the three boys are trying this tomorrow. Seems like it's basically a Big Mac, but hopefully with a better burger.
Have heard mixed things about the pineapple frosty, so will likely skip that.

I honestly can't recall any restaurant in Boston that would have made my top 5 in the area. Obviously I went to more in Cambridge/Somerville and that's where my regular spots were, but I can't even think of a Boston proper place other than Neptune that I would be excited to go back to. Never went to O'Ya, so that's a large disclaimer.

I still occasionally daydream about the Atomic Meatloaf Meltdown sandwich at All-Star Sandwich Bar in Somerville...

I'm gonna have one. Kids were raised on grilled burgers I called Krabby Patties.

pretty sure their beef on weck is modeled after Charlie The Butcher about 2 miles from me (based on the fact that - at least 10yrs ago - they had a picture of Charlie the Butcher on the wall)

When we were there last year we passed one of their outposts (same street Penzeys is on) but I'd just had a beef on weck a few hours earlier and I couldn't pull the trigger again. Then when I did go back to Penzeys on the way out it wasn't open yet and wouldn't be for too long to wait (~40 minutes). I still regret both sides of that one.

While the description is dangerously close to a bagel sandwich, the issue I have with a lot of the French Dip genre is that the bun just doesn't hold up post dipping.
That sandwich looks perfect.

I think that's absolutely right, plus the roll itself is better as a standalone. Its an elite regional sandwich.

This is the place where Max, Rush, and I went to a long while back, right? Loved that place.

Do they have a north shore beef there? Because if I ever end up back there, I'm eating nothing else. I fucking blew it because I saw a place kinda sorta close to here was doing one but I didn't realize it was a temporary special.

Never had a beef on weck (had to Google it), but I do love a well-made French Dip. It might be my favorite sandwich, although I haven't had one in quite a while.
