The fact that this dude was shot (apparently twice) by an armed civilian has to be giving raging boners to NRA fan boys across the country. Greatest story they ever heard (it would only be better if the bad guy had been black, Mexican, or Muslim (or all three!)).

That said, some big swinging balls on that dude. And I guess as well on the young neck-tat dude who drove him around.

Trump was asked in a Press Conference in S Korea if we should have extreme vetting for gun purchasers like we do for immigrants. After first saying that this is not the time to talk about this (unlike after a terrorist attack by someone that isn't white) he said if we had extreme vetting for guns, then the guy who shot at the church shooter wouldn't have had a gun and hundreds would have died instead of 28. Of course if we had tighter controls on guns then maybe the shooter wouldn't have had a gun. That kind of thinking isn't allowed by the NRA, or the R's, and is too deep for the turd in the White House

Was that by an American journalist or Korean journalist?

Saying some shit like that in Korea should be a serious blunder. But we're past the point of dispelling the "ugly American" stereotype when our elected leaders act like a mix of John Wayne's attitude and Jesus.

Is five people dead (this time in rural northern California) even considered a mass shooting anymore?

Nah. One of those five was the shooter. This death toll is the same as a bad car wreck.

There are something like 90 gun deaths per day in the US. What's another 5?

Hell, about a week or so ago a guy shot his wife and two kids and then himself (and apparently their dog). It didn't even make a ripple.

Marist's mascot was named "Shooter" (like shooting hoops in basketball). They just made a decision to change the name to Frankie (like FDR).

Is this the thread for school shootings, or does that one have its own?

Anyway, there are apparently two different school shootings today, one in Texas and one in Kentucky.

Mother fuckers.

The "mother fuckers" are the teachers and other students who didn't have guns to stop the attack, right?

11 school shootings this year so far; almost one every other day.
Obviously we need to arm the teachers. Obviously the answer is more guns. We should just ask the NRA (when they aren't busy funnelling money for Russia into the campaign.

Is there any other country like this?

No reason.

I read that they had armed guards there and they had an active shooter drill a few weeks ago.
So much for more guns there stoppingn the shootings.
I'm sure the response by the WH Press Sec'y will be

"Now is not the time to discuss gun policy, we need to mourn the victims and of course our thoughts and prayers are with them"

What utter BS. Feb 14th; 19 school shootings this year so far

Not bad for 31 school days.

Non-sarcastically...

Our back yard property line is shared with the high school. I feel like I should walk over and inform someone in their administration that, since my wife and I work from home, there is almost always someone home and we will leave the back door unlocked all the time in case "an emergency school evacuation is needed". At the same time, it feels like a very grisly thing to offer. Is it just the right thing to do about an uncomfortable topic, which is why it makes me feel like going over and offering up our home is bad?

Opinions, please?

See my mind didn't go there, but I figured it would be best to have Mrs. DSafe there so the conversation doesn't accidentally sound like Fat Tony from the Simpsons:

"That's a nice school you got over there. Would be a shame if something were to happen over there."

Where to even begin...

I'll start by saying that the school board IS "the authorities."

I'm giggling here, imagining DSafe adopting the Fat Tony voice and saying that to the principal.

I understand the joke, but PSU is a top school(#9) for school administrators. MSU is #4. So you may want to emphasize the PSU fandom.

I was referring to Jerry Sandusky having purchased a house right next to an elementary school.
